Jagdish V. Shetty, National General Secretary of Janata
Party is a product of the Emergency and Lok Nayak Jaiprakash
Narayanan's movement and has been a member of the Janata
Party since its formation in 1977.
Based in Bombay, Jagdish Shetty has risen to the top now
after having held various positions from polling Booth
incharge, Ward office bearer, District Office bearer,
Bombay city President and Maharastra State President and
has vast experience and exposure to grassroot politics,
party and organisation activities although only 42 years
of age.
Jagdish Shetty came in contact with Dr. Subramanian Swamy
in 1977 and has been his close associate for the last
22 years and associated with Dr.Swamy's Bombay constituency
activities between1977 and 1984 when Dr. Swamy was twice
elected as a Janata Party M.P. to the Lok Sabha from MUMBAI.
Born on 2nd October 1957 at Nasik in Maharastra State,
Mr. Jagdish Shetty is a graduate from Bombay University
and also holds a Diploma in Public Relations and on the
Board of Directors of many companies and has exposure
to legal matters. Mr. Shetty has been associated with
many consumer rights organisations has been in the past
member of the Censor Board, Railway User's committee,
etc. During Dr. Swamy's tenure as Union Law, Justice and
Commerce Minister, Mr. Shetty served as Dr. Swamy's Special
Assistance.
Mr. Shetty is married to Smt. Mavis Shetty and has one
son - Aashish Shetty and one daughter Ashveeta.
