Dr.Swamy's Press release dt 10.1.2004
1. The Rs.10,000 crores sops announced by the Finance Minister day before yesterday are going to wreck the fiscal balance of the economy, and will mean heavy dose of taxation by the new government this June. Already the fiscal deficit is at an all time high which has crowded out private investment.
The current high growth in GDP is due to the agricultural recovery from the previous low in the 2002-03 drought year, and the fast growth in the service sector. This is a ‘bubble’ that can burst anytime later this year.
Hence the NDA government has given the people ‘a post-dated cheque on a crashing bank’.
2. The DMK-Congress-MDMK-PMK etc coalition is a terrorist front that is to function as a lobby for the LTTE, and has been formed on the orders of the LTTE Chief Prabhakaran.
That Congress would join such an anti-national front is no surprise to me. I had in eight months ago announced that a such a front will come into existence. This is because I knew that Ms.Sonia Gandhi’s mother along with Quattrochi had a long term business relations with LTTE in antique smuggling and money laundering. Ms.Gandhi has also encouraged the LTTE to assassinate Rajiv Gandhi. There is enough circumstantial evidence to make out a prime facie case of culpability. That is why she does not demand the ex-tradition of Prabhakaran.
3. In Delhi High Court, the CBI withholding telling the Court the truth about Ms.Sonia Gandhi’s involvement in antique smuggling, KGB links and Rajiv Gandhi assassination. The Prime Minister Mr.Vajpayee is protecting Ms.Sonia Gandhi from prosecution by ordering the CBI to stall proceedings. She is a very convenient opposition leader for the BJP. The next hearing of the case is on January 14th (see enclosed).
I met the AIPJD President Mr.S.R.Bommai in Bangalore yesterday and discussed with him the consolidation of secular and patriotic forces in order to meet in the forthcoming Lok Sabha General Elections the challenge of communal and anti-national formations.
Dr.Vijay Mallya, National Working President and Mr.Subbayya Shetty, National General Secretary also participated in the hour long discussion.
I also spoke to Bommai last night on the telephone. It has been decided by the two parties that is the Janata Party and AIPJD, to either merge as Janata Party if time permits, or form a front and contest the elections on Janata Party’s historic symbol of ‘chakra haldar’. The new formation will contest all the seats in Karnataka. Adjustments with other parties like Raita Sangha and BSP will be also explored.
A formal announcement is expected to be made before Makar Sankranti, January 14th .
Therefore I shall approach Chandrashekhar and other former JP movement leaders to join the party so that a genuine national, patriotic and secular party that the Janata Party is can re-emerge as the alternative.
