PRESS RELEASE
I welcome Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh’s statement in New York that India will provide financial and human resources to Iraq and Afghanistan. This is a first step towards correcting the NDA government’s short-sightedness in dealing with the two countries.
Upon his return to India, Prime Minister should take the next step of dispatching Indian troops to replace US forces in Iraq. Indian troops are mentally and historically better equipped to bring peace and harmony in Iraq compared to troops of NATO countries.
Hence in the interest of freedom, democracy and Iraq’s stability, Indian troops should be sent to that country.
