Press Releases in July 2005
28.07.2005 PRESS RELEASE The AIADMK may hold dharnas against the central government for the PM's failure to give any assurance on the Cauvery River issue, but the Chief Minister, Ms.Jayalalitha should first make amends for her foolish capitulation to the UPA, and for her political naivete. One such capitulation is the bogus case foisted on the Kanchi Mutt acharyas and officials. She was naïve to think that the Centre is going to support the Tamil Nadu state on it's interests when the UPA leaders are bent on preparing for elections due soon? The AIADMK chief should have flatly said in Delhi that she will not have anything to do with the UPA in the elections because it's leader Ms Sonia Gandhi has lied to the public about her past. Tamil Nadu should keep fighting for it's rights on Cauvery, but look for permanent alternative solutions instead of constantly petitioning the Centre. One alternative is clearly de-salination of sea water which for some mysterious reason the Chief Minister is uninterested in. May be her friend Sasikala is against it for extra-merit reasons. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) Statement of Dr. Subramanian Swamy, Janata Party President made on July 19, 2005 1. The visit of the Prime Minister Dr.Man Mohan Singh to Washington to meet the US President George Bush has turned out to be a complete flop. On two crucial issues on which the US commitment to treat India as a trusted ally was to be tested, namely selling of civilian nuclear reactors & uranium fuel for Tarapore reactor [built originally in collaboration with the US], and a veto holding seat in the UNSC, Dr. Singh has drawn a blank. On the first issue, the US President said US would "consider India's request", and on the second there was a very loud silence from him. 2. The reason the flop visit is that Dr. Singh came to the US with empty hands. He had nothing to offer in return for US cooperation. Strategic partnership is not "take-take" but give and take. India could have for example agreed to participate in building Iraq's power system, roadways, and universities besides helping the Iraq government to conduct elections and train their police. On these issues Dr.Singh waffled and wobbled. He could not dare to defy the Left Front in his ramshackle coalition. 3. The whole world now realises that Dr. Singh is not his own man. He is PM on sufferance. Hence he has no stature from holding the office of PM of a billion plus people. Moreover, there is a real possibility of mid-term polls for the Lok Sabha later this year or early next year. Hence, Dr. Singh is a defacto lame duck PM, besides being a Man Friday for Sonia Gandhi. Thus Dr.Singh has not been taken seriously. Despite all the Indian media hype, the Washington visit was a flop. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) 08.07.2005 PRESS RELEASE The statement made by UPA chairperson Ms. Sonia Gandhi in Mankapur UP yesterday on the failed attempt by terrorists to blow up the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya, is a proforma condemnation and just lip service for a wounded Hindu society. She described "the perpetrators of this attack as enemies of the country" and asked people to "combat them". Everyone knows that these terrorists are anti-India. The question is what the UPA government going to do about it? It is irresponsible for her to ask the people to combat terrorist attacks. It is for her UPA and it's rubber stamp government to combat the perpetrators by striking at their root. By now the government knows who they are and who trained them, and hence the government must take effective action. But the UPA cannot because when they have forgotten the perfidy of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination by including in the Cabinet, and electorally aligning with those who even today praise the killers of Rajiv Gandhi, how can they be bothered about a Hindu temple and hurt Hindu sentiment? (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY) 06.07.2005 PRESS RELEASE The terrorist attack on Ayodhya, although foiled and failed is a further indication that the Hindu foundation of India is under attack from foreign nefarious forces. The idea is to demoralise the Hindus, make them feel impotent and to lose self-esteem, so that a bigger overt attack in the form of induced conversions to other faiths can be facilitated. This has happened before in Indian history. I had already warned that the bogus cases filed against the Kanchi Shankaracharyas was for testing the waters for the passivity of Hindus and their incapacity to unite in the face of common danger. The Ayodhya attempted attack was just an escalated test of the resolve of Hindus to defend the foundation of India. Hence, I demand that the UPA government which is responsible for the present official promiscuity in permitting fraud foreign preachers such as Benny Hinn to receive government patronage and debunk Hinduism, to show that it is not an anti-Hindu government by taking effective retaliatory action against those forces, once the dead terrorists in Ayodhya are identified. If they were Pakistan trained then the terrorist camps in that country must be bombed by retaliatory air strikes if President Musharraf himself does not do so. Let Manmohan Singh realise that he is a descendent of Guru Gobind Singh and a representative of a billion Indians, and not an impotent nominee of Sonia Gandhi. (SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY)
