Press Release in February 2006

PRESS RELEASE
The Supreme Court judgment directing the raising of the water level of the Mulla Periyar Dam from 136 feet to 142 feet immediately and to 152 feet after further repairs has vindicated my efforts since March 1998 when I first filed the petition in the Supreme Court.
It also represents fulfilling my promise to the Madurai electorate that the 27 year dispute of Tamil farmers with the Kerala government will be resolved through the courts in the favour.
I also condemn the DMK for constantly trying to block the speedy resolution of this dispute by supporting the Kerala government. First they opposed my petition when Mr.Karunanidhi was the CM, then T.R.Balu and R.Raja as Environment Ministers in NDA and UPA governments respectively favoured the Kerala point of view by filing an affidavit seeking environment clearances before raising the water level.

PRESS RELEASE
The billboard in Kanchipuram put up by a AIADMK functionary depicting the Shankaracharyas of the Kanchi Mutt in a highly derogatory manner must be condemned by all patriotic Indians.
The AIADMK General Secretary, Ms.Jayalalitha must demonstrate in a concrete manner that she has not inspired this rotten billboard, and punish the functionary in such a manner that it becomes a effective deterrent for the future. Unfortunately, such sickening sychophancy in the AIADMK and the promotion of lumpen low life in the party hierarchy has made such crass and vulgar portrayals by AIADMK functionaries as an offerring to the presiding deity to propitiate her. Ms.Jayalalitha must now act to remove this widely held impression in Tamil Nadu, an impression that has made Tamils a laughing stock in the nation.

PRESS RELEASE
It is ridiculously hypocritical for the Congress Party to demand the resignation of the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in U.P because one of the Ministers of that government has been caught in drug trafficking in a video sting operation.
The Congress Party should instead set an example by asking the UPA government to resign because of the revelations in the Mitrokin Archives, Volcker Report, and the stinking Quattrocchi scandal, not to mention the sullying of the Constitution in Goa, Jharkhand and Bihar.
Moreover, the UPA Chairperson Ms.Sonia Gandhi has been caught committing perjury by filing an affidavit claiming to have been educated in the University of Cambridge when in fact she has not even passed high school in Italy.
Congress Party should realize that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones at others.

Statement of Dr Subramanian Swamy, Janata Party President and former Union Cabinet Minister in Bangalore on 15/2/06
1. The new Kumaraswamy government in Karnataka should be welcomed by all patriotic Indians since it has liberated the state from anti-national forces which were working through the previous Dharam Singh government. During his tenure, LTTE backed extremists and foreign fraud Christian missionaries such as Benny Hinn were treated like state guests. The IISC was subject to Pakistan ISI inspired attack, while the Telgi scam was linked to a Minister in the government. Moreover, Hindu temples came under increasing pressure from the government to part with Hundi funds causing distress to devotees.
2. It is laughable to call the Dharam Singh government as secular. Actually it was an anti-Hindu government under direction of Ms. Sonia Gandhi. Ms. Gandhi despite being the widow of Rajiv Gandhi, who was killed by the LTTE, has shamelessly gone in for an electoral alliance with those parties in Tamil Nadu who praise the LTTE. No Indian widow would ever do that under she was associated with the assassins. No wonder, both the LTTE and their stooge Bandit Veerappan had a free run of the state.
3. The change of government in Karnataka can now serve as a dress rehearsal for a new government at the Centre. The NDA has 176 MPs in a House of 533 MPs. If the Janata splinter parties can be persuaded that the nation is in as big a danger today as in 1975-77, then together 289 MPs can be brought on one platform to stake a claim to form a new government [majority is 267]. This can happen as early as May this year.
4. I condemn the UPA government’s decision to get a religious census done in the Indian armed forces. This is grossly anti-national and parallels the mischief of separate electorates of the British imperialists.
5. I also condemn the government to amend the Foreigners Act to shift the burden of proof of citizenship from the illegal immigrant to a government tribunal. This will pave the way for a wave of illegal immigration from Bangla Desh and Pakistan.
6. I am glad that the BJP has come around to approving the IAEA vote on Iran nuclear programme by the Manmohan Singh government along with the US, China and Russia. If Iran is found violating the NPT, then UN Security Council has to act to make Iran comply.
7. I however want the Union Government to go slow on the proposed Indo-US Civilian Nuclear Agreement because there are some clauses which are unacceptable in our national interest. Until that is sorted out, we should not sign any agreement.

PRESS RELEASE
At a public meeting in Meerut yesterday a UP Government Minister Mr.Haji Yakub stated that he would honour any assassin of the Danish cartoonist (who had caricatured Prophet Mohammed) with gold equivalent of the killer’s weight. This is announcement crass, and barbaric, and wholly inconsistent with our long civilized traditions.
I demand that the Chief Minister Mr.Mulayam Singh Yadav sack this Minister immediately, and have the UP Police register a criminal case against him.
Mr.Yakub should realize that he is living in India which is 83 percent Hindu, and that his (Mr.Yakub’s) forefathers were also Hindus. Hence, he must be true to the blood and tradition of this country. Hindus for example, do not demand murder of artist M.F.Hussain because had painted Hindu goddesses or Bharat Mata as nudes. India’s tradition is to believe in democratic protests only, as also tolerate fools like the M.F.Hussain or Danish cartoonist.
Hence, if Mr.Yakub cannot live according to Indian traditions, he should migrate to some other country where his medieval beliefs have a place.

Statement of Dr.Subramanian Swamy, President of Janata Party
made in Chennai on 14.02.2006
1. The change of government in Karnataka can serve as a dress rehearsal for a new government at the Centre. The NDA has 176 MPs in a House of 533 MPs. If the old Janata pieces can be persuaded that the nation is in as big a danger as in 1975-77 then together 289 MPs can be brought on one platform to stake a claim to form a new government. This can happen as early as May this year.
2. I condemn the UPA government’s decision to get a religious census done in the Indian armed forces. This is grossly anti-national and parallels the mischief of separate electorates of the British imperialists.
3. I also condemn the government to amend the Foreigners Act to shift the burden of proof of citizenship from the illegal immigrant to a government tribunal. This will pave the way for a wave of illegal immigration from Bangla Desh and Pakistan.
4. The UPA government is not a secular government but an anti-Hindu outfit that draws support from an international cartel of dubious commercial interests. Sadly we are saddled with a rubber stamp Prime Minister.
5. I welcome the decision of the Kumaraswamy Government in Karnataka to seek setting up of Special Courts to try pro-LTTE Tamil separatists presently in prison in Bangalore (Yesterday’s Hindu).
During the Congress rule of the last ten years in the State, the LTTE had been given a free run of city limits and suburbs of Bangalore. The city had become safe sanctuary for the LTTE. The pro-LTTE persons also ganged up with the Veerappan bandits to kill JD(U) leader Nagappa. Since Congress is in alliance with the pro-LTTE parties in Tamil Nadu, this was to be expected.
Since LTTE has ISI and Al Qaeda links, and Bangalore is a pride of the nation in the knowledge economy technologies, hence the Kumaraswamy Government should crack down on the LTTE to see that the city is safe from anti-national elements.

STATEMENT OF JANATA PARTY PRESIDENT & FMR. UNION COMMERCE MINISTER DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY ON 07.02.2006
The national conscience today is with the DAE Chairman Dr.Kakodkar and the seven former Indian Ambassadors who have asked the government not to rush into the signing of the proposed Indo-US Civilian Nuclear Agreement. If India signs in haste to be in time for the US President Bush's arrival in New Delhi, then the nation will have much to repent at leisure in the future.
We have been offered an agreement that promises a lot in return later for agreeing to certain obligations upfront.
Therefore, I advocate that India not hurry to sign the proposed Indo-US nuclear deal for two reasons:
The first reason is that we have to trust the US to think as we do, understand the promises in the agreement as we do. Nothing in the past history of Indo-US relations suggests that the two countries have communicated clearly with each other. The past is full of misunderstandings because of a fundamental disconnect our two cultures.
Second, since India is not being formally recognized as a nuclear weapons state by the Nuclear Suppliers Group, hence by this Agreement we shall lose the right to move reactors from military category to a civilian one, and vice versa, at our choosing. Thus we shall have only a concubine status in the NSG. This may be acceptable to the PM and UPA Chairperson but not the nation.
Hence President Bush should come to India to discuss other matters, and thus not meet the fate of President Carter on full scope safeguards in 1979.

PRESS RELEASE
Russia and China have both supported the United States’ proposed resolution before the IAEA Board seeking to refer the infringement of the NPT by Iran, to the United Nations Security Council for consideration of necessary measures. The Left Front parties, particularly the CPM and the CPI, must therefore now demonstrate their independence from Russia and China by sticking to their stated position. The Left Front had served notice of drastic action against the UPA Government if India decided to vote along with United States on this issue.
The Communists have a long history of somersaulting on foreign direction. For example, in 1942 the Communists first opposed the British and sided with the Congress Party led by Mahatma Gandhi. But no sooner Joseph Stalin, the dictator of USSR, made a deal with Britain, the Communists somersaulted and became henchmen of the British imperialists in India. In the 1970s the Communists opposed any normalization with the People’s Republic of China which at that time the Janata Party was pursuing. But no sooner Russia made up with China, they became ardent supporters of good relations with China.
Hence this is the moment of truth for the Communists; they must stick to their original stand on Iran and withdraw support to the UPA Government as promised, if India votes along with the United States on the Iran issue on February 3rd.
