The Government of India must stand squarely behind Israel in its policy of deterring the Hamas terrorist group by pre-emptive decisive air and land-based strikes.
Hamas has not only refused to recognize the State of Israel despite Israel being a member of the UN for the last sixty years, but has attacked Israel with rockets, as well as supported suicide bomb attacks against innocent Israeli citizens and killing them.
Hence, in this hour of need of Israel, which nation has always supported us, India must fully stand with Israel.
No Indian national interest will be served by India supporting Hamas or by remaining neutral. Moreover about 80 percent of Indian people support Israel, regard it as a friendly nation and a valuable ally I the fight against terrorism.

STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY
MADE IN CHENNAI
1.The Pakistan Army and its wings such as the ISI have not only stepped up the war hysteria, but in effect have called the bluff of India’s threats (to keep the war option open). The frequent statement by Indian Government spokespersons that “all options” including war are open created an impression that India would carry out military operations if Pakistan did not had over the terrorists including Dawood Ibrahim. Now that the bluff has been called, we cannot afford to back down. India has to execute a viable option of retaliation.
2.Therefore India must prepare the nation militarily and the world opinion for a strike, at some point in the future, on the terrorist bases in Pakistani territory, and on a date of our choice.
3.In any case, within a four year period, Pakistan’s newly promoted Generals and Corp Commanders will be the Talibanized ones, who will re-establish military dictatorship in Pakistan. Then war is inevitable.
4.As a first step India needs to neutralize China, on whose support Pakistan is wholly dependent. Without China (as the enclosed Table shows), India can militarily smash Pakistan, as we had done in 1947, 1965, 1971 and 1999. This time, India must go all the way. Hence, we need all the diplomatic skills to neutralize China.
5.Mr.Karunanidhi as Chief Minister has already rubbished the reputation of Tamil Nadu administration by encouraging lawlessness, abeting corruption, and by supporting terrorist organizations. Now, he has gone one step further. He has decided to lift trash and garbage of a foreign land, and dumping it in Tamilnadu. In this he has earned nefty commissions.
According to London’s ITV television channel programme titled Tonight recently, waste and trash from US and UK is being sent toTamil Nadu for disposal, in 10 illegal sites in rural areas such as in farmland wells and in agricultural farms. Tamil Nadu is being paid only £40 (Rs.320) per tonne for transporting it to Tamil Nadu while it would have cost the UK Government £148 (Rs.184) per tonne to recycle it in UK itself. Hence many suspect that illegal commission must have been paid to the Chief Minister.
This is a huge shame to the Tamil people especially since these wastes, about 10 million tonnes a year, contains all kinds of hazardous substances such as plastics, hospital wastes etc., Hence it pollutes ground water and spreads disease, and violates our environment laws, to safeguard which we have DMK Minister.
Thus Karunanidhi has decided to make money even at the cost of making Tamil Nadu a garbage dump of the world.
6.I have decided to move the Madras High Court against the failure of the Tamil Nadu police to prosecute all those LTTE stooges who attacked the Janata Party office in Madurai.

It is a matter of surprise that the External Affairs Minister Mr.Pranab Mukherjee is daily giving a statement that “all options are open” to deal with terrorism oroginating from Pakistan.
This daily repetition since the Mumbai carnage is making our country ridiculous. At least now after one month the options should have narrowed to two or three which includes taking out by pre-emptive strike the terrorist training camps inside Pakistan held territory.
Hence, I demand that Mr.Mukherjee list the options which are still open, otherwise the nation will become an international laughing stock with the repetition of this inane and vajue pharase “all options are open”.

The Central Parliamentary Board of the Janata Party has endorsed the decision of the Tamil Nadu State Janata Party’s proposal to extend support to the AIADMK’s candidate Mr.Muthuramaliangam and call upon all the workers of the Madurai district to work for the defeat of the DMK candidate. The Janata Party considers the advent of mr.Karunanidhi and his brand of Dravidian politics as having sullied the reputation and damaged the prestige of the State of Tamil Nadu. Mr.Karunanidhi’s remarks agaainst Hindu religion in particular is treasonable. His covert support to the LTTE is anti-national and his blatant support to criminals manifested in the wholesale release of murder convicts even before they have served their sentences shows his scant regard for the human rights of the people. Ever since Mr.Karunanidhi became Chief Minister in the late 1960s, he has bled the State by shameless corruption for the enrichment of his family. His nepotism and promotion of his family at the cost of the nation is disgusting. Hence the defeat of the DMK candidate is now essential for setting a trend for safeguarding the true civilization and culture of the Tamil people. I therefore urge party workers to work selflessly for the victory of the AIADMK candiate.

With proliferation of media exposes, and the outburst of A.R. Antulay & Narayan Rane, the Union Government has now no alternative but to set up a Commission of Inquiry under a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court to go into the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack, to melt the growing impression of a Government cover-up. This Commission has become inevitable because a Cabinet Minister of the Union Government has raised a query about a possible conspiracy, while a former Chief Minister of Maharashtra (Mr. Narayan Rane) is reported to have said on 6th December in a press conference that “the Government must conduct an inquiry into the aspect of some Indian political leaders supporting external forces and financing of terror activity in the country. If required I can provide evidence. I am making this statement with full responsibility.” Mr. Rane added that these political leaders not only finance the terrorists but also provide safe heaven in the country!
There is no doubt that both Intelligence Bureau and the US Intelligent agencies had warned the Maharashtra Government and the Union Government well in advance, with specific details, about a potential attack by terrorists using the sea route. One letter from the IB refers to the specific intelligence from the US about an attack on Taj Hotel. This information was provided on 17th September this year by the US. On November 18, Indian intelligence also intercepted a satellite phone call to a number in Pakistan used by a leader of LeT and this interception revealed a possible sea borne attack on Mumbai. Moreover, the interrogation of a terrorist suspect in the Rampur CRPF Base attack a year ago revealed the possible attack on Taj and Oberoi hotels. In February this year Fahim Ahmad Ansari, a LeT operative arrested in UP and belonging to the Motilal Nehru slum in Goregaon, admitted that he had prior to 2007, done a reconnaissance of Taj & Trident hotels, CST, BSE, and the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office. He has admitted to having stayed at Sunlight Guest House near Grant Road under the name of Sahil Pasha between November 28 and December 12, 2007. He also confessed to having surveyed each floor of Taj and Triden hotels and sent the plan to LeT operational Commander Mohd. Muzzamil.
The Union Government must not be permitted by the Opposition Parties in the name of national unity for a cover up, which would impinge deeply on our national security. If the nation is to be protected in future, this cover up must be exposed by a full-fledged open inquiry under the Commissions of Inquiry Act and headed by a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court.

I demand that the Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab, caught in Mumbai carnage alive, be declared as enemy alien within the meaning of Article 22 of the Constitution. According to Article 22(3) of the Constitution, once a person is declared as an enemy alien, he is not entitled to the protection of Article 22(1), which requires that “no person shall be denied the right to consult and be defended by a legal practitioner of his choice”. This declaration of enemy alien, which is justified, would put an end to the controversy that advocates are under obligation to defend the terrorist.
I also demand the setting up of a Commission of Inquiry under a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court to go into the question of lapses, cover ups and the circumstances leading to the Mumbai terrorist attack.
The UPA Government under the new Home Minister Mr.P.Chidambaram appears to be engaged in covering up the willful and deliberate suppression of facts which facts show that there was sufficient advance information for the Maharashtra Police to have acted and that some powerful figures had intervened to see that this did not happen. The present UPA drum beating and hot air about Pakistan is to cover that up.
Mr.Shivraj Patil was unfairly made the scapegoat for the failure to prevent the attack on Mumbai. In fact, the files of the Home Ministry clearly show that he had performed his duty fully but that his orders were countermanded from elsewhere. This also what Maharashtra’s former Chief Minister Narayan Rane has said. Patil therefore appears to have been removed from the post of Home Minister as part of this cover up.
India stays in greater danger from the enemy within than from the terrorists from abroad. The latter can be taken care of and eliminated once the enemies within are exposed and dealt with. Otherwise, terrorist attacks will continue.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.M.Karunanidhi has made himself look ridiculous by criticizing the AIADMK leader Ms.Jayalalitha for not condemning the Sri Lankan Army Chief Gen Fonseka for calling Mr.Vaiko and the secessionist Mr.P.Nedumaran as “jokers”. The General also alleged that they receive illegal funds from the LTTE. Mr.Karunanidhi has made the outrageous comment that Ms.Jayalalitha’s silence is due to her being ‘not a Tamil’, otherwise she would have reacted to a foreigner (General Fonseka) defaming ‘Tamil leaders’.
Mr.Karunanidhi should explain whether the same remark would apply to TNCC President Mr.Thangabalu who has also been silent on this matter. The truth of the matter is that Mr.Karunanidhi makes these ridiculous noises to hide the fact that he himself is not a Tamil at all and in fact had migrated from Andhra Pradesh.
Mr.Karunanidhi also semms to have forgotten that in 1987 when the foreign Swadish radio broadcast a statement that the then Prime Minister Mr.Rajiv Gandhi had taken a bribe in the Bofor arms deal, he took that as a truth and demanded the resignation of Mr.Gandhi. Was it then right for an Indian to demand the prosecution of a Prime Minister of India merely on the word of a foreigner? If so, he should demand prosecution of Mr.Vaiko and Nedumaran for receiving funds from the LTTE since this has been authoritatively stated by an important spokesman of Sri Lankan Government.
The problem is that Mr.Karunanidhi is habituated to making wild statements which contradict what he practices.

STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY MADE IN CHENNAI ON 09.12.2008
1. I have sought sanction of the Prime Minister, the appropriate authority under Section 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act [1998] to prosecute his Telecom Minister A.Raja for his corrupt acts in allotment of 2G Spectrum causing a loss of over Rs.50,000 crores to the national exchequer, and benefitting certain persons for pecuniary gain.
2. I demand a Commission of Inquiry under a sitting Judge of the Supreme Court to determine the Government’s failure and lapses in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attack. This Commission should also investigate Maharashtra rebel Congress leader Narayan Rane that Sonia Gandhi’s Political Advistor Mr.Ahmed Patel MP had intervened to block police pre-emptive action against LeT sleeper cells in Mumbai.
3. The economy is in a tail spin due to the past wrong policies pursued by P.Chidambaram as Finance Minister, particularly his favouring the anti-national Participatory Notes (PNs) which accounted for 60 percent of all foreign investment flow into PNs were used by terrorists and corrupt politicians to the country play the stock market.
Now these PNs have caused a liquidity problem by racing out and causing on outflow of $75 billion (Rs.37,000 crores). Hence, unlike the world over where the dollar has fallen in value, in India the rupee per dollar rate has risen from Rs.38 to Rs.52 in just two months.
4. It is therefore tragic for the nation that a person who facilitated or did not nothing to block terrorist financing (namely P.Chidambaram) should be now entrused with the nodal Ministry to fight the terrorists.

The statement published today of Mr. Ki. Veeramani of the Dravida Kazhagam (DK) attacking the media for publishing anti-LTTE news item, reveals that he has again relapsed into his anti-Brahmin phobia.
I warn Mr. Veeramani that by such fulminations he has committed cognizable offences under three Sections of the IPC and two Sections of the Unlawful Activities Act, and therefore can be prosecuted and sent to prison any time.
Over the centuries, when Brahmins have been targeted, they have been helped by Kshatriyas, Yadavs, and other Backward class people to finish off Asuras and Rakshasas. Recently, the BSP leader alignhjed with the Brahmins of UP and trounced her opponents. Hence, Mr. Veeramani should realize that the days of DK freely victimizing Brahmins are over.
Let Mr. Veeramani also remember that his three-storey Periyar Memorial Building near the Delhi Airport was demolished by the Delhi Administration in July 2001, because it had become a transit camp for LTTE infiltrators. He could do nothing to prevent it, despite the support of the Congress leaders and the DMK.
Moreover, in the Trichy Sessions Court a case of attempt to murder me is still pending, and he can be convicted any time in that case.
If Mr. Veeramani cares so much for the LTTE, he should migrate to the jungles of Jaffna and fight for them there. In India, there is no sympathy for them.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Mr.Karunanidhi instead of concentrating on good governance of the State of Tamil Nadu, has been pontificating and mouthing sarcasm on what people should wear and what they should not.
His latest nugget of ‘wisdom’ is in asking Brahmins not to put on the sacred thread and women not to affix the bindi (‘Pottu’ in Tamil) on their forehead to create a feeling of equality among the people.
Soon he may dare to ask the Sikhs not to put on their turban, grow their hair, and Muslims women not to go around in ‘burqas’.
After his hugely stupid comments on Lord Rama, and he state of undress of statues installed inside temples, these latest inane remarks make me demand that Mr.Karunanidhi undergo a medical examination to determine if he is still in his senses since Article 164 of the Constitution as interpreted by the Supreme Court in 2001 requires the Chief Minister to be of sound mind.
If Mr. Karunanidhi means what he says, he should first stop sporting the saffron shawl which he hangs around his neck to ward off evil spirits, which incidentally was recommended to him by his Brahmin Yoga teacher.

By the authority vested in me by the members of the Central Parliamentary Board of the Janata Party, I hereby dissolve the J&K Unit of the Janata Party with immediate effect.
The dissolution has become necessary after a media sting operation which reported that the State President Mr.Som Nath Dabgotra had unauthorisedly made an appeal in the name of the Working President of the Party Mr.Vijay Mallya calling for applications from those wanting to be candidates of the Janata Party in the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State. He informed the media representatives posing as candidates that if they gave “Rs.5 lakhs, he would ensure that they would get Rs.25 lakhs worth of campaign support, a car, security cover from the Government and even a house.” (Indian Express November 4, 2008) Upon my inquiry from him, he failed to contradict these reports.
Such gross commercialization of the process of selecting candidates is unacceptable to the Janata Party. Even if the Party has undergone a decline in voter support and has become small, nevertheless, those of us who are founder members and had fought against the State of Emergency declared by Mrs.Indira Gandhi, are still committed to the values for which Jayaprakash Narayan had founded the Party.
Hence this commercialization is unacceptable to the Party and thus even at the cost of possible electoral success, it has been decided to dissolve the State unit. Party General Secretary Mr.Jagdish Shetty has been authorized to select candidates, if any, from those who are genuine and have been part of the Party for sometime.

I demand that the Union Government reduce the price of petrol diesel nd kerosene immediately. The current prices were fixed after crude oil price per barrel rose to $148. Now it is at $62 per barrel.
Hence, the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene should be cut to half of what it is today.
At present, taxes on fuel is only fiancing wasteful expenditure of the Government and foreign speculators in the Indian Stock Market.

STATEMENT DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY MADE IN COIMBATORE ON OCTOBER 29, 2008
I am confirming that based on my investigation, Ms.Jayalalithaa’s charge that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister had directed the police to arrest her on any cognizable offence in the IPC. This direction Mr.Karunanidhi gave because he has become apprehensive of her rising popularity in the state and her hard line toward terrorists with whom the CM has close connection. When Mr.Karunanidhi gave this order at his Gopalpuram residence, some of his family members were present. The Union Home Ministry has received a report from the Intelligence Bureau corroborating Ms.Jayalalithaa’s charge.
The DMK leader has now been exposed in his hollow announcement that all Tamil Nadu MPs and Ministers at the Centre would resign if the Union Government does not get the Sri Lanka government to call a halt to the alleged “genocide” of Tamil-speaking Sri Lankans in the island. For this Mr.Karunanidhi wanted a ceasefire to be effected. However, the Union Government ignored this demand, and declared that a ceasefire declaration is an internal matter of Sri Lanka. Despite being rebuffed by the Centre on this fundamental issue, Mr.Karunanidhi clutched at the fig leaf to hide his humiliation and meekly withdrew his threat of instead. This proves that Karunanidhi is not a Tamil tiger but just a Tamil pussycat.
Based on the similarity of circumstances between 1991 when the DMK government in the state was dismissed and now, I can say that the need to dismiss Mr.Karunanidhi’s government today is ten times more compelling than in 1991. At that time Mr.Karunanidhi was charged with passing national security secrets made available to him by the Centre to the LTTE. Today Mr.Karunanidhi has become a patron saint of the LTTE. In fact LTTE supremo Prabhakaran has praised Mr.Karunanidhi as a true Tamil nationalist, which de-coded means that he is a confirmed anti-national.
The present economic downturn in India is 90% the fault of Finance Minister P.Chidambaram and only 10% due to international factors. Much against the warning given by Jayalalithaa and myself not to allow the Participatory Notes[PNs] a free run of the stock market, yet to launder his own black money and of Sonia Gandhi, he did not listen. Today PNs have deserted the Indian economy, dumping rupees for the dollar, and hence a run on foreign exchange has taken place. While the world over the dollar is falling in value against other currencies, in India the dollar has risen from Rs.39 per dollar to Rs.50 per dollar in just two weeks.
I demand the resignation of the most pompous but also the most corrupt and ineffective Finance Minister in the world who has no interest in protecting the nation especially the middle class.

STATEMENT OF DR. SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF THE JANATA PARTY, MADE IN MADURAI ON OCTOBER 26, 2008
The ransacking of my Party office in Madurai carried out, according to media reports, by some pro-LTTE outfits was pre-planned and had the blessings of the Chief Minister’s son M.K. Azhagiri.
I am preparing a full and proper response this goonda act within the parameters of the Constitution, and as follows:
Seek Madras High Court’s monitoring of the police prosecution of the case as registered in the FIR because of the bias of the Karunanidhi government in favour of the LTTE.
To fix responsibility and launch disciplinary proceedings against police officials who were negligent in performing their duty to take preventive steps despite having advance information of the attack.
Move the Union Government to declare Madurai district as a disturbed area, and hand it over to the CRPF for law & order.
Take steps for the extradition of M.K. Azhagiri out of the district of Madurai since he is the root cause for the present atmosphere of lawlessness, violence and murder in Madurai district.
Prepare a charge-sheet against the DMK Government in Tamil Nadu for presentation to the President for seeking the dismissal of the Government under Article 356 of the Constitution.

The Congress Party has now admitted to Mumbai news daily The Mint (www.livemint.com) that they had no clue about the so-calaled Written Submissions handed in the Supreme Court by the Counsel for the Union of India in the Rama Setu case. In these submissions, it is averred that the Setu is not an integral part pf sacredness for the Hindus, a blasphemous and scandalous assertion, and which is devoid of any support in any theological texts of Hindu regligion. On Thursday last, the Supreme Court permitted me when I protested in court that these submissions have been filed without giving any Notice to me, and two and a half months after the Supreme Court had reserved its Order to file fresh submissions, in which I shall rebut these baseless and wild assertions.
However, the Mint newspaper states that this absurd Written Submissions were filed on the direction of Shipping Minister Mr.T.R.Baalu and the Cabinet or even the PM were not informed of the submissions in Court. Therefore Mr.Baalu should be dismissed frorm the Council of Ministers for violating the Constitutional principle of collective responsibility.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Karunanidhi has again published a statement on the Sri Lankan issue in the press which is deliberately misleading.
In a press release issued yesterday, Mr.Karunanidhi has said that the DMK Government in 1989, to help the children of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees in India, had allotted reserved seats in educational institutions including medical colleges for them, but that Ms.Jayalalitha succeeding as Chief Minister had got it cancelled.
This is blatantly false, as Mr.Karunanidhi must know, on two counts. The original G.O. announcing these reservations for Sri Lankan Tamil students, was issued by the Rajiv Gandhi Government in 1988 when there was President’s Rule in the State. It was discontinued by the NDA in 2000 when DMK was a partner in the Union Government and in power in the State as well. Even after I had got a favourable order from Madras High Court, the Chief Minister has failed to act to rectify it with the Centre.
Recently I had again raised the matter with the Union Government to undo the cancellation but the Minister for State for Home has written to me declining to do so (letter enclosed).
I now challenge Mr.Karunanidhi to prove his bonafides by resigning from the CM’s post on this issue. Just by convening a meeting of anti-national parties, he cannot help the suffering Sri Lanka Tamils. Hence, his fraud and confidence trick on the public therefore needs to be exposed.

All patriotic Indians should support the U.P Chief Minister Ms.Mayawati in her expose of the UPA Chairperson Ms.Sonia Gandhi.
I have visited Rae Bareli many times. On one occasion, on April 24, 2006, I was nearly killed by Congress Party workers under the supervision of Mr.Rahul Gandhi, when I had tried to enter the Returning Officer’s office to oppose Ms.Sonia Gandhi’s nomination papers filed for her Lok Sabha by-election. An FIR for attempted murder is still pending with the U.P. Police.
Anyone visiting Rae Bareli or Amethi will notice two obvious realities in these two constituencies. First is that there have been no economic progress in thearea for the last sixty years. Second, there is so much terror in the two constituencies that most of the votes are case by impersonation. The Election Commission’s writ in Rae Bareli and Amethi is missing entirely.
I therefore urge the UP Chief Minister Mr.Mayawati to teach these foreigners a lesson by fielding a united opposition candidate for each of these two Lok Sabha constituencies in thenext General Elections, as the Janata Party had done in 1977.
As President of the Janata Party I am prepared to assist Mr.Mayawati in making efforts to achieve such an opposition unity.

PRESS RELEASE
The clandestine manner in which the Counsel for the Union of India had chosen in the Supreme Court today, to file Written Submissions in the Setusamudaram Shipping Channel Project case, two and a half months after the Orders on the same were reserved by the First Bench of the Supreme Court, speaks volumes about the panic in which the Government of India is in the matter. Moreover, the Counsel for the Union of India made a Mention in the Supreme Court of the intention to file their Written Submissions without informing the principal parties in the Writ Petition, such as myself. This is unethical behaviour in the code of law, for which I shall appear in the Court on Thursday to protest.
These Written Submissions do not add any weight to the arguments already made by the Union of India. What is clear though is that the Government continues to maintain that Rama Setu is not an essential part of Hindu religion The law is however, very clear and explicit, namely, that what is to be held sacred is decided by a sizeable section of the people and not by any Government or court.

The so-called "All Party Meet" on Sri Lanka convened by the TN Chief Minister is turning out to be a pathetic flop. It is bereft of any legitimacy since the principal opposition party in the State, the AIADMK led by the former Chief Minister, Ms.J.Jayalalithaa has boycotted the meeting, calling it a hoax on the public. The meeting as it now turns out is a gathering of parties who have been rendered by the Tamil Nadu public as agents of the LTTE. No amount of rigged opinion polls can convince anyone with any touch with the public that the LTTE is not a hated terrorist organisation in Tamil Nadu. As it is, any resolution passed by this motley crowd of parties would be only a reflection of their own political impotence, since the DMK and PMK are not prepared to walk out of the UPA on this issue. We have already witnessed their abject surrender for the crumbs of power in the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project, after pompously predicting that their patron saint Ms.Sonia Gandhi would flag off the first ship via the proposed channel on November 1st 2008 and that too after rupturing the holy Rama Setu besides collecting their hefty illegal commissions from international dredging companies. But the people have a right to protest against this ill-fated "All Party" Meet since the tax payers money is being wasted to plead for a foreign terrorist outfit, the LTTE, which killed a former Prime Minister of India. The whole exercise is futile because mainstream India has decided that LTTE is part of the problem of Sri Lanka, and cannot be a part of any negotiated solution of the problem.

1. The present global financial meltdown should not cloud the fact that Finance Minister Mr.P.Chidambaram is not only the most crooked but the India’s most incompetent Finance Minister. During his tenure, India’s growth performance has fallen from the second fastest growing economy to the twenty fourth (see enclosed) been over taken by Vietnam, Mexico and Bangladesh in apparel exports to drop to sixth from first position in 2004. Besides during his tenure farmer’s suicides have risen by 14 percent per year since 2005 after a decade of near zero suicides.
The Finance Minister has used the current global financial crisis to remove all clamps of the SEBI and RBI on Participatory Notes enabling his family, his political masters and terrorists to benefit from the crisis.
I demand his immediate sacking to prevent further damage to the country.
2. The Indo-US Nuclear Agreement signed into law yesterday in Washington D.C is a seal of approval to India’s nuclear concubinage. Not since the Indo-Soviety Treaty of 1971 has such a degrading agreement has been signed.
3. The DMK nominee as Telecom Minister, Mr.Raja has beaten all records in brazen corruption in the 2G and proposed 3G spectrum sale. The PM has held up the clearance but I demand he scrap it.
4. The media has given publicity to the apology tendered to Ms.Sonia Gandhi by ‘Newsweek’ magazine on a defamation notice for alleging that she could not become PM because the then President Dr.Abdul Kalaam did not agree (because of my petition to him) and that she is a ‘former’ waitress’. But the same media blacked out the withdrawal and dismissal of her defamation suit for $100 million damages in two US courts recently. Why?

I have been informed today by an official of the PMO that the CBI has been instructed to revive the demand for extradition of the LTTE leader V.Prabhakaran and his deputy Pottu Amman at the next meeting of the Interpol to be held tomorrow in Vienna. The CBI Director who has already reached Vienna, will make the formal request.
During the tenure of P.V.Narasimha Rao as PM, the Government of India had got the Interpol to issue the word “most wanted” Red Corner Notice to Sri Lanka and other countries to hunt for and apprehend these two terrorists who had directed the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, and have been involved in narcotics and other smuggling activities in India. For years, the LTTE had also procured weapons through an Italian businessman based in India by paying in sapphires and rubles stolen from illegal mining operations in Sri Lanka.
The decision of the Government to revive the extradition is welcome and reflects a new assertiveness of the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh, which is also welcome since the UPA is infested with pro-LTTE leaders, starting from the top.
It is now for Mr.Karunanidhi to take a stand especially since he is still a suspect under investigation by the CBI-led Multi Disciplinary Monitoring agency (MDMA) probing the conspiracy angle in the assassination. Therefore either he should abandon the sinking LTTE ship or valiantly go under the Palk Strait with them.
The real struggle for Sri Lankan Tamil human rights will begin after the LTTE is liquidated. All patriotic Indians are committed to that.

Seeking extradition of Prabhakaran and bringing him to book for the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi as Ms. Jayalalitha wants is a noble patriotic sentiment and cannot be thought of by any person loyal to India as an indication of support for the genocide of Tamils in the Island. On the contrary if Mr. Karunanidhi has any loyalty to Bharat Mata, he should hold the LTTE as much responsible for genocide of Tamils as the Sri Lankan army since all top beloved leaders of Tamils such as Amrithalingam, Neelam Thiruchelvam, Sabaratnam were assassinated on the orders of Prabhakaran who is afflicted by the same disease of jealousy as Karunanidhi is.
If the present killings of Sri Lankan Tamils by the Sri Lankan army has to be stopped by Indian intervention, then Prabhakaran, the terrorist leader of the LTTE and assassin of Rajiv Gandhi, must surrender to the Indian High Commission in Colombo and leave alone the Tamils to protection of the people of India. We in India shall thereafter ensure that the safety of the Tamils is guaranteed. But unfortunately for the Tamils, Prabhakaran is using the innocent Tamils particularly the children, as hostages for his own safety in his underground hole and hideout. But like Saddam Hussein, he too will be discovered and brought to book.

The Janata Party President and former Union Commerce Minister today addressed the Swiss-India Chamber of Commerce (SICC) at Zurich, Switzerland on “The Indian Economy and the China Factor” to an impressive gathering of Swiss business persons, bankers and government officials.
In his speech, Dr.Swamy referred to the large transaction costs of doing business in India and said it was due to poor infrastructure and corruption, but said Indians now have demonstrated capacity to produce the highest quality products as proven by winning the global awards for quality in IT software (SEI-CMM grade 5) and automobile ancilliary industry (Japan’s Deming Award).
He said poor infrastructure and corruption are drawbacks that can be rectified by decisive government action. He pointed out that for example Indian citizens hold $1.5 trillion (about Rs.6,50,000 crores) in Swiss banks alone which can however be recovered by Government of India issuing an Ordinance to nationalize all Indian citizens’ accounts in Swiss banks. The Swiss Government, by the new post-Marcos legislation would then be obliged to hand over the accounts to the Indian Government.
Dr.Swamy foresaw India overtaking China after 2015, following both countries suffering an acute financial crisis like the 1977 East Asia crisis. India, because of its institutions will weather the crisis more easily.

The Congress President Ms. Sonia Gandhi has suffered another humiliating defeat in the New York State Supreme Court today. On her behalf the overseas Congress President Dr.Sunil Malhotra had filed a hundred million dollar defamation suit against some NRI activists for getting published a full page advertisement in the New York Times on the eve of Ms. Sonia Gandhi’s visit to the UN headquarters in connection with a programme on Gandhi Jayanti. The said defamation materials were taken from the website www.janataparty.org.
The Congress Party on behalf of Ms. Sonia Gandhi thereafter filed a defamation suit in two courts, one in New Jersey and the other in New York. The New Jersey Court threw out the petition on August 15 on the ground that Ms. Sonia Gandhi should have appeared in person before the Court to defend herself which she had declined to do. The New York case was to be heard on October 2nd, but today the Counsel for the Congress Party has written a letter to the NRI activists stating that they are “discontinuing the case” and withdrawing it from further hearing. This is a humiliating defeat for the leader of the ruling coalition in a nation of a billion people. Considering that a hundred million dollars were claimed as damages, this points to recklessness of the litigation. The NRI activists are now preparing to file a suit for damages of ten million dollars against Ms. Sonia Gandhi and seek a summons for her presence in the US Courts.

Ms.Sonia Gandhi has been now thoroughly exposed by the proceedings of the High Court in the convict Nalini matter. The Union of India which was a party refused to take a stand whether they opposed the plea of Nalini to be set free or not. On one occasion they said they would adopt the stand of the Tamil Nadu Government and the very next day they did a somersault disowning their stand. Considering that Rajiv Gandhi was the husband of Ms.Sonia Gandhi and was killed in a conspiracy carried out by the LTTE in which Nalini played such an important part that the Supreme Court twice confirmed her death sentence, it becomes a matter of great mystery as to why Union of India refused to take a stand in the Court. Further Ms.Nalini in her affidavit has stated that it was Ms.Sonia Gandhi who enabled her to get her death sentence commuted to life.
I demand that Ms.Sonia Gandhi make clear that in the context of the Congress Party resole of fight terrorism, why this mysterious inexplicable softness towards a LTTE operative and convicted person Nalini who had teemed with a foreign terrorist to kill Rajiv Gandhi, her husband.
It is also equally a mystery as to how the State Government of Tamil Nadu which no mistakes in the procedural requirements for setting free 1405 convicts on Annadurai’s birthday, but committed such howling procedural irregularities in processing Nalini’s application. Does this indicate that there was a collusion between DMK and Nalini to enable her to go to court and to get her to set aside the order of the Jail Advisory Board, so that it can be made as an excuse for re-consideration of her application for her release.
The Report of the Nanavati Commission on the Godhra holocaust of 2002 is to be believed because its proceedings have been conducted professionally, legally, and without haste. On the contrary, the UPA set up Banerjee Commission was an unprofessional command performance obviously intended to pre-empt and scuttle the Nanavati Commission proceedings. I urge the Gujarat government therefore launch criminal proceedings based on the findings of the Nanavati Commission, and let the accused defend themselves on the basis of the Banerjee Commission report. Let the judiciary decide which is more weighty. The accused need not be arrested but interned to Godhra in their residences.
The Banerjee Commission episode reminds me of the Congress' earlier attempt by setting up the Jain Commission on Rajiv Gandhi Assassination. The Jain Commission was set up to scuttle the Justice J.S.Verma[Supreme Court Chief Justice] Commission that I had got set up just before demitting office in June 1991. The Verma Commission in its Report submitted in August 1991 held that the Congress Party local leaders had disrupted the Sriperumbudur security arrangements that facilitated the human bomber Dhanu reach Rajiv Gandhi and kill him. The Jain Commission circus helped divert attention of the nation from this finding of profound significance, especially since the widow of Ms. Sonia Gandhi has chosen to align with pro-LTTE parties and help Rajiv Gandhi's assassins escape death penalty and even imprisonment. The mystery of Rajiv Gandhi murder thus has yet to be unravelled, and must be by a future patriotic government of India.
Suspected LTTE gunmen yesterday shot dead the Chief Priest of the historic Koneshwaram Kovil of Trincomalee. Shic Shri Kugaraja, 43, was killed around 6 p.m. while riding his motorcycle in Trincomalee by gunmen who came on a motorcycle. The priest maintained a close rapport with the Security Forces which may have led to the shooting, military sources said. Police found two bullet wounds on his face and skull. The shooting took place along Viththiyalayam Road. The world famous Koneshvaram Temple is located inside Trincomalee’s For Frederick. He had has the chief priest of the Temple efor the last five years and had returned to Sri Lanka after a short visit to India a few days ago.

The decision of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Karunanidhi to get released 1405 convicts serving life sentences to mark the birth centenary of DMK founder C.N.Annadurai, is illegal, unconstitutional and downright dangerous to public order.
Mr.Karunanidhi has made a private secret deal with all these criminals that they will work for the DMK in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
The premature release decision was not recommended by the TN Prison Advisory Board, but was effected by by-passing the Board. The TN Cabinet passed a resolution and got the pardon issued under Article 161 by the Governor Mr.S.S.Barnala. This will completely undermine the respect for law and justice in the state.
This decision will be challenged by me in the Supreme Court since in August 2007 a Supreme Court Bench had stayed the Andhra Pradesh Government’s similar largesse of freeing 1500 Life sentence convicts.

The decision of the Madras University to award an honorary doctorate to Ms.Sonia Gandhi who is not even high school pass nor has written any books of any worth nor has been an avid reader of books, is a further de-basement of the great University that was Madras University. This debasement had already plummeted when the Mr. Ramachandran became the Vice Chancellor and in a disgusting show of sycophancy, had prostrated in public before Mr.Karunanidhi while he on a post-breakfast pre-lunch fast against the Supreme Court stay of Rama Setu demolishing planned by him and Sonia Gandhi to deliberately Hindu feelings.
Ms.Sonia Gandhi who as a widow and financial beneficiary of Rajiv Gandhi's assassination has shown the depth of depravity by electorally aligning with forces that aid and abet her husband's killers namely the LTTE for some mysterious reason yet to be found out, was already in the dock for having falsifying on oath her educational qualifications by claiming to have studied in the University of Cambridge UK. She was let off by the Supreme Court on the ground of "generosity" and the charge being of a crime committed "long ago" i.e., three years stale. But recently a US Court was less forgiving where her minions claimed $100 millions from three Indians for attacking her for this perjury in an ad in New York Times. The lady judge dismissed their claim with the remark that if this charge was untrue then Ms. Gandhi must have the nerve to come to court and defend herself, which she has declined to do.
Hence September 5th in a black day in the academic history of India, and the Madras University will become the laughing stock of the whole world forever. I urge the students and professors of the University to rise in revolt against this award for the sake of their own future reputation.

Under Article 1 of the Indian Constitution, no part of India can have ‘Azadi’ under any circumstance. The only ‘Azadi’ we Indians can offer Kashmir Muslim secessionists is a free one-way passage to Pakistan so that they do not have to live in India Under the India Independence Act (1947) passed by the British Parliament for partitioning of India, Muslims were given only two alternative to choose from: either remain being Indian citizens or to go to Pakistan. There was no third alternative of “Azadi’.
The demand for referendum in Kashmir by some people such as Vir Sanghvi is treason. A future Government needs to pass a US-type Patriots Act which should provide for prosecution of such persons who want to dismember India. On conviction, Capital punishment should be awarded to such traitors.
The Janata Party J&K President Mr.Som Nath Dabgotra who is also member of SASS has been asked to press for this demand in the current agitation in Jammu.
3. The Superior Court of New Jersey in Monmouth County near New York has on August 15th, dismissed the $ 100 million damages suit for defamation filed by the Indian National Overseas Congress against Satyanarayana Dosapati, his wife Sunanda Thali, and several others [see enclosed Order]. The Overseas Congress had alleged that by publishing a full page advertisement in the New York Times on October 2, 2007, the defendants had defamed Ms Sonia Gandhi by stating in that publication that Ms. Gandhi had faked her educational qualifications, had received payments from the KGB, smuggled antiques out of India, stashed away $ 2 billion in Swiss bank accounts, and had got her citizenship of India by misrepresenting facts in her application. Hence, it was stated that Ms. Sonia Gandhi should not be allowed to speak about Mahatma Gandhi in a UN function.
[The Overseas Congress President Dr.Sunil Malhotra has also simultaneously filed an identical case in the State Supreme Court of New York against other signatories of the New York Times advertisement, viz, Narain Kataria and Arish Sahani, and that is posted for hearing on October 2nd this year].
When the Court convened on August 15th, the Judge Ms. Patrica Del Bueno Cleary asked the counsels of both parties to make their submissions briefly. After hearing both counsels and perusing the records, Judge Cleary ruled that the Overseas Congress lacked the basis, legitimacy and locus standi to pursue the matter any further, and summarily dismissed the case. The Court held that Ms.Sonia Gandhi has to appear herself to merit the Court to hear the matter.
Therefor e the charges against Ms.Sonia Gandhi remain uncontroverted by her and hence I demand that the government of India appoint a Commission of Inquiry to investigate all these charges including some additional charges for which I have recently collected material.
4. The Hindu Unity.Org which had published details of Mr.Rahul Gandhi and his four foreign friends gang raping Ms.Sukanya of Amethi on December 2, 2006 had been sent on, Mr.Gandhi’s behalf a legal Notice by Congress spokesman/Advocate Mr.Abhishek Singhvi asking the website to “apologize or face prosecution”.
However, the website has refused to do so, and said that it stood by the story. Yet Mr.Rahul Gandhi has even after a year not taken legal action to vindicate his position. Hence I shall file a PIL seeking a FIR against Mr.Gandhi.
5. The Union Government has informed me that the Coast Guard will protect Rama Setu from sabotage by pro-LTTE forces (see enclosed letters).

The Tata & Sons Chief Mr.Ratan Tata should pullout of his Singur Project in the larger national interest of defeating the anti-national politics of the Communists.

Hence, it was stated that Ms. Sonia Gandhi should not be allowed to speak about Mahatma Gandhi in a UN function. The Plaintiff claimed that the advertisement by the Defendants had caused a huge financial loss to the political party of Ms. Sonia Gandhi and hence they were suing for $100 million. Defendants had submitted in their defence that they had relied on the published material in the item "Know Your Sonia" and available in www.janataparty.org, and there was no defamation since these published materials were never controverted by the Congress Party or by Ms.Sonia Gandhi.
[The Overseas Congress President Dr.Sunil Malhotra had also simultaneously filed an identical case in the State Supreme Court of New York against other signatories of the New York Times advertisement, viz, Narain Kataria and Arish Sahani, and that is posted for hearing on October 2nd this year].
When the Court convened on August 15th, the Judge Ms. Patrica Del Bueno Cleary asked the counsels of both parties to make their submissions briefly. After hearing both counsels and perusing the records, Judge Cleary ruled that the Overseas Congress lacked the basis, legitimacy and locus standi to pursue the matter any further, and summarily dismissed the case.
Therefore the charges against Ms.Sonia Gandhi remain uncontroverted, and hence I demand that the government of India appoint a Commission of Inquiry to investigate all these charges including some additional charges for which I have recently collected material.

Before departing to India after a two month teaching stint at Harvard University, the Janata Party President Dr. Subramanian Swamy today addressed the inaugural meeting of the scholars of the newly established Center for Indic Studies at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. The Center in which the University's Professor Balram Singh and Rajiv Malhotra of the Infinity Foundation are it's driving force, has already received an initial grant of US $ 1 million to conduct research on all aspects of India's civilisation.
In his address titled "De-Falsification of India's History" Dr. Swamy said that at present Indian history text books used in universities in India and in US were first written by British imperialist-sponsored foreign historians and their Indian tutees. These books are completely and mischievously distorted, and since Independence these books have been updated by Communist-controlled scholars. Hence a complete re-writing of these text books is necessary for Indians to develop an healthy Indian identity.
Dr.Swamy urged the Center's scholars to consciously be aware, at every stage of research, the difference between propaganda and scholarship. Scholarship, he said, must recognise ambiguity in data and be transparent in sourcing inferences by adequate references. He gave the example of Megasthenes writing in his Indica that the king in the capital city of 'Palimbothra' was 'Sandrocottas'. Later British historians identified these names as Patliputra and Chandragupta, and declared Megasthenes to have been at the Mauryan dynasty capital. But in Indian history there are two Chandraguptas, one of Maurayan and another in the Gupta dynasty, and they were 1200 years apart. Moreover Sandracottas could be Samudragupta Gupta, the son of Chandragupta. Further, the Mauryan capital was Rajgriha and not Patliputra. Recently, he said, in the Supreme Court in the Rama Setu matter, a whole host of bogus translations of the Puranas and Ramayana was off-loaded by the government. When the translations were challenged by him, the government had no answer. Translation from Sanskrit texts have to be done by spiritually evolved scholars and pandits since every sanskrit word has many meanings. Dr.Swamy said, Indian historians have consistently refused to consider this ambiguity or go against their Imperialist mentors and foreign benefactors. He recalled that in 1968 he had sent a paper on this subject to the Indian History Congress but the organisers not only would not list his paper for discussion but even refused him entry into the auditorium. Let us not have this fascist approach when we de-falsify history, he urged. Let us challenge the Marxist historians by debating with them and exposing their ignorance and propaganda to the world academia, Dr.Swamy added.

All statements by DMK leaders that the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project [SSCP] would be implemented without any alterations are foolish day dreaming. No Court in India can sanction the rupture of the Rama Setu since it would be a criminal offence under Section 295 of the Indian Penal Code. That the Rama Setu is held sacred by nearly a billion Hindus makes the criminal provision applicable to all. Even arguing in favour of damaging the Rama Setu is incitement to disorder and causes enmity between groups, and hence other sections of the IPC on incitement would become applicable. The SSCP is also illegal because it was finalised without obtaining mandatory prior permissions [i.e., NOCs] on environment and national security
Hence, the arguments that will be advanced by the government counsels in the Supreme Court shortly for going ahead with the SSCP in its present form is sterile, and may be being made to lull the DMK and befool them into not withdrawing support to the Manmohan Singh government.

The Janata Party President Dr.Subramanian Swamy was decorated as the Hindu Dharma Rakshak[defender of Hindu religion] at a well attended function of NRIs and American devotees, held in the auditorium of the Hindu Temple in Dallas, Texas yesterday evening. The award was instituted by the Sanatana Dharma Foundation which had been inspired by Swami Dayananda Sarasvati of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam. The citation for the award said that Dr.Swamy has fearlessly spoken about the Hindus being under a siege today, and had tirelessly worked to defend the Rama Setu against its destruction. Dr. Swamy's two books on the subject were also cited as having educated the Hindus about the true state of affairs affecting the Hindus in India and around the world. The Board of Trustees of the temple were present in full strength and endorsed the award.
In his speech accepting the award, Dr. Swamy said that fault for the siege that the Hindus are in is due to lack of a virat Hindu identity. He said it is no more enough just to perform pujas, visit temples, and celebrate Hindu festivals to be a good Hindu. Hindus must also have a mindset to bond together, irrespective of caste or language, and resolve to defend Hindus everywhere. Otherwise he said, Hindus will be like circus lions who can be ordered around by insignificant ring masters. Our numerical strength will then be dissipated. He said the next general elections will be a Kurushetra for Hindus, and hence if the Hindu vote is consolidated on a specific agenda then, Hindu renaissance can be ushered within five years in India. He urged Muslims and Christians of India to proudly declare that their ancestors are Hindus, and hence become identified as a part of the Hindustani family and deserving citizens of a Hindu Rashtra. He urged all NRIs to teach their children Sanskrit as a way to prevent their complete Americanisation in culture.
Dr.Swamy later arrived in New Jersey where he was honoured by a large gathering of 7000 devotees of the Datta Yoga Center at a function held in Royal Albert Palace. The highly revered Swami Ganapati Sachindananda of the Datta Peeth in Mysore, who has large following among the Americans, was present and welcomed Dr.Swamy as a fearless leader for the Hindus.

The recent announcement that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Karunanidhi will patronise screening of the mega budget movie on Saint Thomas and his fictitious missionary activities in the sixteenth century in Tamil Nadu, read with the Union Government's decision to cancel the allotment of forest land to the Amarnath Shrine Board intended for creating facilities for housing and parking Hindu tirth yatris, are a part of the pernicious and sinister attempt to put the Hindus under siege, about which I have been warning the nation for the last three years [see my book: Hindus Under Siege: The Way Out].

Around the mid sixteenth century, two anti-Hindu brutalities were committed by foreigners. The first was the demolition of the Sri Rama Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya by an agent of the invading plundering Babar and the second was the destruction of the hoary Shiva temple by the invading Portugese barbarians. The Hindu society was not prepared for these uncivilised hordes, and hence remained mute witness to the destruction and sacrilege.

But no more. The Hindu has now stood up. Hence there is now a Ramjanmabhoomi movement in the country with a determination to re-build the temple. The Karunanidhi-Sonia duo to demolish the Rama Setu by implementing the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project was challenged, and despite the duo being in power in Chennai and Delhi, the duo were unable to marshall arguments in the Supreme Court. The Hindus carried the day and the project has gone back to the drawing board.

I therefore on behalf of Hindus and those others who proudly acknowledge that their ancestors are Hindus, warn this duo to desist from trying to patronise the falsification of history about the presence in Tamil Nadu of Saint Thomas, to legitimise the Portugese, destruction of the Shiva Temple to build the Santhome Church. The Church will have to go, and the Kapaleeshwara Temple re-built on that site. Hindus will do it with the help of sane and civilised Christians if possible, without them if necessary, and despite them if forced. When 83 percent Hindus unite, let those who are seeking to debase Hindu icons by bogus history realise that a religious Tsunami will wash them away.

New York (June 22, 2008)— Indian National Overseas Congress has filed a 100 million dollar defamation lawsuit against Narain Kataria, Arish Sahani and others for taking out a full page advertisement on Oct 6, 2007 in New York times questioning the selection of Sonia Gandhi to represent India at UN International Non-Violence day on Mahatma Gandhi"s birthday. In response to this event, several local community leaders organized a Freedom of Speech rally on Sunday, June 22nd at
Flushing, NY Hindu
Temple from 10:30 to 1PM. Dr. Subramanian Swamy flew from
India to address the rally. The rally was attended by more than 200 people. The rally is marked by speeches by local attorney Karamvir Dahiya, Dr. Kukar who is key organizer of the event and Dr. Subramanian Swamy. There were informative displays about Freedom of Speech and about law regarding defamation in
United States outside the lecture hall.
Attorney Mr. Dahiya gave a passionate speech about the frivolousness of the lawsuit and its improprieties. He urged the defendants Narain Kataria, Arish Sahani and others to fight to the end. Dr. Kukar gave an impassionate speech about Freedom of Speech. He called the lawsuit the most despicable assault on Freedom of speech and said, “this lawsuit, believe me, is not against just Arish Sahani or Narain Kataria, this lawsuit is meant against all of us, you, me and the freedom of speech". In his speech Dr. Kukar said Freedom of Speech is nothing new to
India. He gave example of King Rama, where when a commoner made aspersions on Sita, King Rama did not suppress the Freedom of speech. He quoted extensively from sayings of Socrates, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Voltaire. He lamented that Freedom of Speech is continuously being assaulted and gave examples of fatwa on Salman Rusdie, murder of Danish filmmaker Theo Van Gogh, harassment and expulsion of Taslima Nasreen. He compared the use of lawsuits to suppress freedom of speech to that Russian Josef Stalin"s KGB Chief, who said, “give me the man, I will find the crime". He gave examples of Freedom of Speech in
United States such as, the statements by media and masses on President Bush, questioning of faith " patriotism of Obama, violation of laws by Rosa Parks during Civil Rights and said none of these invited lawsuits. He said members of INOC who are living in such a free country shamelessly chose to suppress Freedom of Speech through meaningless lawsuits. He questioned why such lawsuits were not contemplated when Imam of Jama Masjid made fiery anti-national speeches during Kargil war in
India. He was saddened that the Freedom of Press index in
India ranks 140. He warned those who are perpetrating this are stirring a hornet"s nest and the truth will prevail, in spite of their efforts.
Dr. Subramaniam Swamy, with his keen intellect and vast experience with lawsuits gave his insights into what the lawsuit is about and his analysis about the statements made in the NY Times advertisement which INOC is suing for defamation. His foremost word of caution was if this lawsuit is not effectively countered, it is simply a matter of time before anyone who opposed the current situation in
India would be silenced with such threats.
Dr. Swamy said every word in the NY Times Ad is true and he has done extensive work on this issue and said it had been on his Janata party website (www.janataparty.org/sonia.html) for several years. However, he is not being sued because he uses courts as a public forum for what he has been saying. But Narain Kataria, Arish Sahani are sued precisely to create enough hassles because it requires to hire lawyers, go to courts and bear financial burden, so that in the future no one dares to venture to talk about these in public. He applauded Overseas Indians for their efforts to redress the political situation in
India and gave example of how Overseas Indians played significant role in removal of Emergency by Mrs. Indira Gandhi which she herself acknowledged to him.
Dr. Swamy said that the choice of Narain Kataria and Arish Sahani as primary target of lawsuit is because of their efforts over many years to bring unity among Hindus through Hindu Sangathan Day. He said that Hindu unity causes lot of discomfort for many such as the Christian fundamentalists who openly declared that they will convert 100 million Hindus few years ago in Dallas and the radical Islamists who drove away 500,000 Hindus in Kashmir and butchering them in Bangladesh. However, he reiterated that Hinduism is not a religion, but a civilization which both Muslims and Christians in
India can also acknowledge because all Indians share the same ancestry.
Dr. Swamy then went over the reasons for which lawsuit does not stand a chance in American courts. He described the landmark judgment in 1964, NY Times Vs Sullivan, Commissioner of Police of Alabama during civil rights movement, where in Supreme Court established the concept of burden of proof of ‘actual malice" on the plaintiff, when public figures sue for defamation. Proving ‘actual malice" means that the plaintiff need to satisfy three criteria. 1) The statements made are false 2) The defendants knew it is false 3) That defendants went ahead and published with reckless disregard for truth. This concept has been the bar since 1964 for defamation lawsuits in
United States that ushered an era of freedom of speech to media against public figures. He said it is beyond doubt ‘Sonia Gandhi" is public figure and that INOC will fail on every criteria of ‘actual malice". Not a single case of defamation by public figure succeeded since that time. The reasons Supreme Court established this is because the suppression of truth by public figures could have chilling effect on public debate in a democracy. That is precisely what INOC is trying to avoid, to avoid public debate on the wrong doings of Sonia and Congress Party of India.
Dr. Swamy then moved on to establishing the well known and widely published truths about every statement in New York Times Ad. He himself went to court with many of the items published and got injunctions from Indian courts. He questioned why should not Indians have a right to know the activities and antecedents of those who rule over them.
Sonia Real Name is Antonia Maino: He explained how Sonia Gandhi real name is Antonio Maino and Sonia is name given by her father after he returned from
Russia after being jailed there for his service in Hitler"s army. He mentioned that Sonia"s father was released in 4 years by Russians, compared to 14 years given to every German soldier because he could have capitulated to join KGB.
Sonia faking her birth place: Parliamentary records show Sonia giving her birth place as Orbassano but her birth certificate says Luciano, a border town to
Switzerland which is resort town of
German Soldiers. He questioned how can Sonia claim her father to be the person who was in Soviet Jail during her birth. These details, he says raises questions about her birth and her claims in public records. While these may not sound important details, these he says are legitimate in cross examinations.
Sonia faking her degree: In a sworn affidavit, Sonia mentioned that she studied English in
Cambridge
University, when in reality she has not even attended high school. Dr.Swamy wrote to
University of
Cambridge and they verified that there was no such student. After he raised this issue, Sonia dropped this from her later affidavits.
Sonia as Au-Pair: He questioned if someone is not studying in
University of Cambridge and lived for five years in England (a different country), how would one support oneself? He said, he has done investigation and it is shocking what he found out. However, he did not elaborate. Should these questions be not asked? These questions are asked during a marriage, for employment and should we not ask when someone is ruling against them.
Sonia Citizenship: He said Sonia became Indian citizen after living there for 18 years. However, she doesn"t appear to have renounced her Italian Citizenship. The copy of the application is available on his website. Indian citizenship laws require an applicant renounce earlier citizenship to become a citizen. In response to the question of renouncement of earlier citizenship, she responded, ‘Not Applicable". Upon refusal by citizenship officials, she then produced a certificate from Italian Embassy that she told them that she renounced the Italian Citizenship. He said Indira Gandhi forced the Government officials to accept that letter. However, he says any Government without her sycophants can easily cancel her citizenship.
Sonia Connections with KGB: Dr. Swamy detailed the Russian President Yeltsin appointment of a commission to unearth the KGB records and one of the members of the commission, Yevgenia Albats, wrote in her book, ‘State Within State", that Rajiv Gandhi and her family are regular recipients of funds from KGB through a fictitious company. He ran into Yevgenia at Harvard and questioned her about this. Based on publicly available records he went to Delhi High Court which issued notice to CBI. However, the Govt of India refused to file the required FIR to get the original documents from
Russia and proceed in the court.
Sonia – Heir of two billion dollars in Swiss Account: He says, Sonia"s husband Rajiv had two billion dollars in 1991. This data along with the list of all corrupt leaders worldwide who has large swiss accounts, was published by Government of Switzerland under pressure from US when it wanted to get details of
Philippines dictator Ferdinand Marcos. All this money, all the money of Indira Gandhi and most of Sanjay Gandhi, he says went to Sonia. He mentioned, death is very profitable to Sonia Gandhi. The data on 2 billion dollars along with Rajiv Gandhi photo was published in Switzer Illustrete magazine in 1991.
Sonia – Antiques Smuggling: Dr. Swamy says how Sonia sister Anushka owns two shops in
Italy, one called Ethnica and another Ganapathi, in the home town of
Sonia"s mother. The photographs of these are produced and are available at his website. How did they get there, he asked? He says that it is through the help of LTTE. He also mentioned Sonia close family friend Quattochi who was involved in famous Bofors scandal, used to sell weapons to LTTE. He says the antiques are smuggled out of
India and her sister Anushka shops are front shops and the antiques are sold at well known
London art shops such as Sotheby and Christies. This racket he documented and convinced courts to issue notice to CBI. However, the Government of India dragged its feet on its investigations.
Rahul Gandhi Citizenship: Dr. Swamy questioned whether Rahul Gandhi is citizen of
India? In Italian law, if mother is Italian Citizen at the time of birth, then her children will also be Italian citizens. And law in
India clearly says you cannot be Indian Citizen unless you renounce Italian Citizenship. When Rahul was born, Sonia was Italian Citizen and Rahul Gandhi never renounced his citizenship. In fact, he says he uses an Italian passport under name Raul Vinci.
Rahul Gandhi arrest by FBI: Dr. Swamy says Rahul Gandhi was arrested at
Boston airport on Sept 27, 2001 with 160,000 dollars in cash. He was traveling with his Colombian girlfriend, Veronique Cartelli. Cartelli name, he says belongs to drug mafia. FBI held him for 9 hours and refused to let him go. It is only after Indian government intervened and Condelezza Rice was informed that it will affect Indo-US relations was he allowed to go after being told that he should appear anytime in US courts whenever called for. Dr. Swamy attempted to get FBI records and was told that it requires Rahul"s permission. He wrote to Rahul to provide the permission to prove there is no such thing happened, but he has never gotten any response. (Note: This was reported in Indian media in 2001).
In the end, Dr. Swamy alerted the audience that since Sonia came to power, there is degradation of Hinduism and Hindu Values. From Jayendra Saraswati who was put in jail like a common criminal on a Diwali day and to the destruction of Rama Sethu, he mentioned there is systematic undermining of anything that is Hinduism under her rule. He said Hindus always fought and it is far from truth that Hindus capitulated to Islamic and European conquests. The proof, he says, in spite of 800 years of Islamic rule and 200 years of European rule,
India is still 83% Hindu. He asked audience to compare this with
Iran (in 15 years) and
Iraq and
Saudi Arabia that fell in short times to Islamic invaders and the
Europe continent that was converted to Christianity in less than a century.
Dr. Swamy"s final words are Kataria and others will easily win this case. INOC has no locus standi. Then there is actual malice. He challenged to prove it. He sincerely wished that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi are scrutinized in American courts but felt that US courts may think it is waste of their time. He urged the audience to support the defendants and fight back, so that no such cases will ever be filed in future to trample on freedom of speech.
To a clapping audience, he said, ‘It is not a case of that Mr. Kataria fighting and you are standing by him because you know him, this is a case of all of us, it is case of your freedom of speech, it is the case in the future you can live in this country far away from India, without fear of long arm of Indian Government coming and standing in the way (of your freedom of speech)". Subramaniam Swamy Backs Sonia Libel Defendants

Former Indian Law Minister Subramanian Swamy lived up to his reputation as a colorful political maverick as he made an impassioned case June 23 to several hundred attendees at the Hindu Temple auditorium in Flushing, N.Y., to fight back in a $100 million libel lawsuit brought against defendants who ran an advertisement in the New York Times newspaper that was critical of Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi. The advertisement coincided with Gandhi"s trip to the
U.S. in October last year.
“This case (defendant Narain) Kataria will easily win," Swamy declared, according to a transcript of the speech provided by organizers. “What is the locus standi? There is this actual malice? Prove it.
“I have been telling Kataria: ‘Do not get it dismissed, let her come and testify." It may not happen because judges do not want to waste time. . . . If he has filed a 100 million dollar lawsuit, then we should countersue for $10 million."
Swamy made a two-fold argument about why the lawsuit was doomed to fail, firstly because
U.S. law set an extremely high bar for libel cases against public figures, and secondly, he said most of the allegedly libelous information against Sonia Gandhi was both in the public domain and true.
Organizers said the event, a fundraiser for defendants of the lawsuit, was attended by around 250 people and hosted by a number of Indian American medical doctors and businessmen.
Kataria, one of the defendants, said he was impressed by Swamy"s speech. “Oh, my God, it was thrilling, it was mesmerizing, it was very informative, he gave so much information and he was so knowledgeable that people felt that they don"t know anything," he told India-West.
Kataria said he estimated that all told, about $25,000 was raised in donations and pledges.
“A lot of people came and you know, they gave me money," he said. “Students came and they gave me 20 dollars, 30 dollars. There were senior citizens, they gave me money from their social security (checks). Some people told me they would give me, every month . . . from social security till my case goes on. I was really touched."
The event was addressed by, among others, Narinder Kukar, former national president and chair, board of trustees, Association of Indians in America, one of the key organizers of the event, and New York-based attorney Karamvir Dahiya.
Swamy said that the lawsuit had much broader implications. “It is not a case of Kataria fighting and you are standing by him because you know him, this is a case of all of us, it is case of your freedom of speech, it is the case in the future you can live in this country far away from India, without fear of long arm of Indian government coming and standing in the way (of your freedom of speech)."
Swamy said the lawsuit targeted people like Kataria because he had been active in promoting Hindu unity.
“Hindu unity scares lot of people," he said. “It scares Christian missionaries who want to convert a hundred million converts in the next 10 years. . . It is anathema to terrorists who are targeting Hindu institutions everyday," he said. “And that is why it is appropriately called Hindu Defense Fund I think, to which you have to make your contributions."
Swamy provided forceful arguments in his scathing critique of Sonia Gandhi, accusing her of being the heir to $2 billion in Swiss bank accounts, making false claims about her degree and birthplace, and accusing her of having connections with the Soviet-era intelligence agency KGB and smuggling antiques.
He also accused her son Rahul of lying about his education and raised questions about his citizenship as well as about having a live-in foreign girlfriend.
Swamy said that in 1991, under
U.S. pressure, the Swiss government was forced to disclose information about foreign leaders with Swiss bank accounts, and a Swiss magazine, Schweitzer Illustrierte, published names and figures that showed Rajiv Gandhi had $2 billion. “All that money has gone to her," he alleged.
Swamy pooh-poohed her affidavit that she had studied English at the
University of
Cambridge. “I got a letter from the university, there is no such student, never," he said. “I went to court. And finally the (Indian) Supreme Court chief justice, told me, ‘Be generous, Dr. Swamy, be large-hearted, this is an old matter, leave it." Of course, subsequently, Sonia Gandhi dropped (this) from her affidavits."
Swamy also said Rahul Gandhi had claimed to have an M. Phil. degree, also from
Cambridge, but there was no record of his submitting a dissertation, a necessary condition for getting an M.Phil. degree.
In any case, the
U.S. set such a high bar for libel cases for public figures, the case was doomed to fail, he explained. Swamy quoted the landmark New York Times v Sullivan case in 1964 where the U.S. Supreme Court said that publishing an advertisement against public officials is only defamatory if that public official first proves that the advertisement is false, and then goes on to prove that the publisher knew it was false and yet published it with reckless disregard for truth.

Islamic seminary, the Darul-Uloom Deoband has issued a fatwa against terrorism on May 31st. Darul-Uloom had denounced terrorism for the first time in February, but had not issued a fatwa so far.
The fatwa was issued before a gathering in Delhi’s Ramlila Ground at the Anti-Terrorism and Global Peace Conference. But what concerns me are the caveats in fatwa like “unjust” and “innocent”, which make the fatwa fall short of an unequivocal condemnation of terrorism.
The conference was historic as Muslims of different sects and ideologies attended, but no females—including Nadwatul Ulama Lucknow, Jamaat-E-Islami Hind and All India Muslim Personal Law Board—ratified the fatwa against terrorism.
Jamiat Uleme-e-Hind leader Madani stated, “Killing of innocent people is not compatible with Islam. The biggest challenge faced by us today is terrorism (which) threatens to strike at the very root of the secular structure of our society besides causing irreparable loss”.
Coming after the February 25th denunciation, it is seen as reflective of the growing recognition on the part of clerics to counter misgivings about interpretations of scriptures.
Deoband has lately been under intense focus because many of the terrorist groups – from Taliban to Jaish and Harkat—are widely perceived to be Deobandi in orientation.
The deputy rector of Deoband, Maulana Usman also said that while terrorism is destructive, jehad is constructive. The most positive part of his speech was: “Terrorism is the gravest crime as held by Quran and Islam. We are not prepared to tolerate terrorism in any form and we are ready to cooperate with all responsible people”.
Hence, while the fatwa is a large step forward, the Muslim community must no more dilute its opposition to terror, and cooperate with police and intelligence to identify sleeper cells of terrorists living in their midst in Mohallas.

1. I have been invited by an institute set up by the Chinese Union Cabinet (State Council) to address a seminar on Sino-Indian Relations (invitation enclosed). I shall be in China for five days beginning June 11th.
2. I have written to the PM to recognize that the Supreme Court order on the Sethusamudram Project delivered on May 8th is in effect asking the Government to return to the drawing board to consider alternative routes without breaking the Rama Setu and also conduct an Archeological investigation to determine if Rama Setu can be declared an ancient monument and thus protected. These investigations will take at least 5 years, and the SSCP has now become a dead letter. This is a big defeat for Rama – hater Mr.Karunanidhi and the Dravidian movement.
3. The victory of Lord Rama in the SSCP cannot be complete unless the Rama Temple is also built in Ayodhya. Hence the Government must agree to this also.

The UPA government has no answer except to wail and give a running commentary on who and which organizations are behind the attack The meeting of Priyanka Vadra with Rajiv Gandhi’s murder conspirator Nalini is symptomatic of how compromised and capitulationist the UPA leadership of Ms.Sonia Gandhi is today. Her visit to Jaipur for a on-the-spot study is a big joke on the people.
The nation however demands action. The only effective action against terrorism in the Indian context is retaliation in a manner that nullifies the political aims of the terrorists.
For example, we must now re-populate the State of Jammu & Kashmir with 500,000 ex-servicemen, give them a good stipend for expenses, and modern arms to defend themselves. This is our answer to Hindu cleansing by jehadis in the state.
To retaliate against terrorist attacks against our temples, the Government must acquire the mosque in the Kashi Vishwanath perimeter and restore the Shiva temple. The Government should also permit the building of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Since the Supreme Court has held in 1994 that mosques can be acquired for public purpose by a government, hence this step is constitutional. Details of adequate steps to nullify the political aims of terrorists are given in my new book “Terrorism in India: A Strategy for Deterrence” (published by Har-Anand).
Without such strong deterrent action against the terrorists, India can never be safe from these paid and hired killers, who are functioning for countries hostile to our nation stronger laws like POTA are necessary for containing terrorism, but are not sufficient unless backed by retaliatory deterrent action against the terrorists’ political objectives.

STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY MADE IN CHENNAI ON 12.05.2008
1. In the Baalu gas scandal, the Ministry of Petroleum has, vide a letter dated April 28, 2008, cancelled the allotment of gas to King India Chemicals Corporation (KICC) owned by Baalu’s family. In that letter, Under Secretary K K Sharma of the Petroleum Ministry wrote to GAIL (India) Ltd’s CMD that the letter dated January 4 asking GAIL to supply natural gas to KICC “is hereby withdrawn”.
Baalu was pushing the requests of his sons’ firms —KICC’s for 10,000 standard cubic metres of gas per day and KIPC’s for allocation of 0.45 million SCMD.
Their demand was for subsidised gas at administered price of $1.96 per million Btu whereas the market price is anywhere between $6 and $16.
However, as a consequence the Petroleum Minister Mr.Murli Deora is now liable in a Breach of Privilege Motion because this letter of April 28, 2008 does not find any mention in Petroleum Minister Murli Deora’s statement to Parliament in support of Baalu on April 30. Deora had talked of his meeting with Baalu and the “discussion held in Prime Minister’s Office to ascertain the status” of the cancellation of his gas contract by the previous NDA government in January 2004 due to non-compliance of filing an User Certificate. In fact Baalu’s firm had sold the gas in the black market. Their “Captive power unit” dose not exist.
Deora claimed that the PMO had not issued any order or any instructions to help the company and “not a single cubic metre gas has been supplied to the companies”. This is now proved to be false.
The PM has yet to give me sanction to prosecute Mr.Baalu under the Prevention of Corruption Act. If he fails to by June 15, 2008, I shall make Mr.Deora and Dr.Singh as Baalu’s co-conspirators in this fraud.
2. The Baalu virus of misuse of public office seems to be affecting other DMK Ministers. One Mr.Jawahar who is an Assistant Engineer at TNEB, and a relative of DMK Minister in TN, Ms.Poongothai Aladi Aruna was trapped three months ago in a corruption case. He has been placed under suspension. According to a telephone tape that tumbled out from the TN Secretariat, Ms.Poongothai called up the Director of Vigilance to ask him to return the case back to TNEB, where Jawahar would be let off lightly.
I am sorry that the daughter of my friend, the late Aladi Aruna, should at this young age take the path of interfering with the process of justice.
Today Jawahar, and his brother Elango @ Elaya Aruna are functioning unofficially as PA to the Minister handling her unofficial financial matters. In the Nellai such matters are being handled by one Ezhilvanan, who is the Minister’s brother.

The Supreme Court observation that the Madras High Court Order of 19.6.07 on my Writ Petition must be honoured and complied with, which directs that the government conduct an investigation by the ASI to find out if the Rama Setu can be declared as an Ancient Monument of National Importance and also to explore other ship channel alignment that does not damage the Rama Setu, is a historic achievement for the long suffering one billion Hindus. Let now the super secularists, the proselytizing covert missionaries and dissolute atheists of India now recognise that the Hindu has stood up and will no more stomach any more sacrilege against the Hindu religion. Henceforth, we Hindus will bring to bear our intellectual resources to energise our tottering democratic system and cleanse public life of all parasites, pirates, and buccaneers who have been bleeding the Hindu civilisation. However according to IB and RAW reports filed from Tamil Nadu last month, LTTE activities have reached “dangerous levels” of infiltration in the State for narcotics and arms smuggling. Therefore that the DMK Government should be first dismissed be fore India can enter as a peacemaker in Sri Lanka.
2. I shall be impleading myself as a petitioner in S.Nalini’s petition for release from prison on grounds of mercy, because the High Court has issued Notice on her petition to the State Government, which Government is led by a pro-LTTE coalition headed by Mr.Karunanidhi. I shall also make Ms.Sonia Gandhi and Ms.Priyanka Vadra as respondents because their Italian family including Quattrocchi have maintained commercial relations with the LTTE through the latter’s Milan and Palermo offices in Italy and also because Nalini’s Petition appears to be a dirty deal between the LTTE and the Mainos.
3. I have written to the Election Commission seeking criminal prosecution of Union Shipping Minister Mr.T.R.Baalu for withholding information in his affidavit filed as a Lok Sabha candidate in 2004, that he provided bank guarantee to his family companies despite being declared a loan defaulter by three public sector banks. The loan recovery action by these banks are in process presently in the Debt Recovery Tribunal.

The call of the Chief Minister Mr.Karunanidhi for India’s intervention in Sri Lanka to bring out peace reflects the bankruptcy of Mr.Karunanidhi’s past policies of condemning Rajiv Gandhi-Jayawardene India-Sri Lanka Agreement of 1987, and of opposing the IPKF.
It is therefore necessary for Mr.Karunanidhi to first apologize to the nation for refusing to receive ceremoniously the IPKF when they returned to India in 1989-90.
Secondly, Mr.Karunanidhi should ask V.Prabhakaran and Pottu Amman to surrender to India for facing trial for the murder of Rajiv Gandhi.
However, Mr.Karunanidhi cannot do this because he is a slave of the LTTE. According to IB and RAW reports filed from Tamil Nadu last month, LTTE activities have received “dangerous levels” of infiltration for narcotics and arms smuggling. I demand that therefore that the DMK Government be dismissed forthwith.

While India is perfectly within its rights to frame its own foreign policy on Iran, there is no diplomatic gain by publicly rebuking advice from friendly countries [on how to deal with Iran] as the US has done.
It is also necessary for India, if India considers Iran as a civilizational sister, which it is, t tell Iran bluntly in private that India will not tolerate any militant action of Iran against Israel. PM should in from Iran that, we shall treat an attack by Iran on Israel as an attack on India, since Israel is a major weapons suppliers to India today.
India should also tell Iran that for a stable order, Iran must respect international treaties that it has willingly signed. The NPT is one such treaty and hence Iran will be an international renegade if it explodes or builds a nuclear bomb.

STATEMENT OF DR. SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, JANATA PARTY PRESIDENT AND FORMER UNION CABINET MINISTER FOR LAW & JUSTICE MADE ON 17/04/08
As I stated yesterday, Ms.Priyanka Vadra, Rajiv Gandhi’s daughter, must be prosecuted by the Tamil Nadu Government for the criminal offence of trespass into a highly restricted prison in Vellore since the jail officials have confirmed that Ms.Vadra did not get the requisite permission to meet with the Supreme Court—convicted murder conspirator, Ms.S.Nalini.
Moreover, the reason adduced by Ms.Vadra for wanting to meet Nalini is entirely bogus since the latter was a low level worker who would not know the higher level participants in the conspiracy.
Therefore, Ms.Vadra is playing the fool with people’s sentiment in not disclosing the real reasons for the one-to-one meeting with Ms.Nalini. All reports in the media about their dialogue are second hand and third hand versions, and pure hearsay.
I am now informed by a senior diplomat of a small IT front-runner Asian country which actively monitors the wireless communications from and to the LTTE, that a message from Nalini has reached the V.Prabhakaran, the LTTE supremo and proclaimed offender in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case as Accused No.1, conveying a message from Ms. Sonia Gandhi. This may have been the real reason for Ms.Vadra’s hush hush illegal Vellore jail visit.
All the tear jerking stories put out in the media is therefore to be taken with a pinch of salt, and is standard Maino modus operandi and Italian soap opera. The visit would have remained secret but for the LTTE directing Nalini’s advocate, who is also a member of a LTTE front organisation in Tamil Nadu, to make it public.
In 2004, former Minister of State for External Affairs, Mr. Eduardo Falerio had travelled to Jaffna incognito to convey a message to the LTTE from Ms. Sonia Gandhi. His cover was blown by an Indian High Commission official speaking to me, and I promptly issued a statement which The Hindu newspaper fully published after due verification. Falerio, when contacted, also gave a cock and bull story about being interested in the flora and fauna of the war torn Jaffna peninsula. But he did not inform the Indian High Commission in Colombo as required of all politicians under the FCRA.
It is time to come clean for Ms. Sonia Gandhi, especially since she claims to be a grieving widow of Rajiv Gandhi as to what compulsion drive her continued contact with the LTTE. The patriotic Indians are already shocked by her agreeing to an electoral tie-up with agents of the LTTE such as DMK, PMK, Dalit Pathers etc.
Ms. Gandhi likely to be summoned as a witness in a defamation suit filed recently in New York by the Overseas unit of the Congress Party. An opportunity to know the answers will be provided when she is cross—examined by the defendants.

Ms.Priyanka Vadra, Rajiv Gandhi’s daughter, must be prosecuted by the Tamil Nadu Government for the criminal offence of trespass into a highly restricted prison housing death row terrorists in Vellore. The jail officials have now confirmed that Ms.Vadra did not get the requisite permission to enter the jail, much less seek permission to meet with the Supreme Court-- convicted killer Ms.Nalini.
If the TN government fails to do so by May 21st, I shall file a private complaint in the court to enforce the police to do its statutory duty.
Moreover, the reason adduced by Ms.Vadra for wanting to meet Nalini is entirely bogus, because the CBI and SPG know that she was a low level worker who would not know the higher level participants in the conspiracy, but was one who actively participated and without remorse, in carrying out the dastardly assassination of a former Prime Minister at election time and at the behest of a foreign terrorist organisation that had killed 3000 jawans of the Indian army. Further, along with Rajiv Gandhi, fourteen police personnel were killed in Sriperumbudur, many of whom had families with infant children.
Therefore, Ms.Vadra is playing the fool with people’s sentiment, and not disclosing the real reasons for the one-to-one meeting with Ms.Nalini. All reports in the media about their dialogue are second hand and third hand versions, and pure hearsay.
If Ms.Vadra wants to tell the nation the truth about who contracted the LTTE to kill her father, she can begin by telling the nation about her father’s last phone call from Vishakapatnam to her and the details of the conversations that took place. She should also investigate who persuaded Mr. Gandhi to campaign in Sri Perumbudur when even the local Congress candidate did not ask for it, and how his travel schedule became known to Sivarasan and to the LTTE before even the local police was informed of his visit. She should also study the J.S. Verma Commission on the assassination in which the local Congress attempt to disrupt Rajiv Gandhi’s security arrangement at the Sriperumbudur public meeting grounds is documented. And finally she should ask her mother why the UPA government has abandoned the demand for extradition of LTTE supremo V.Prabhakaran and his lieutenant, Pottu Amman, who are still Accused No1 & 2 respectively in the assassination trial court charge sheet.
Incidentally, Ms.Nalini’s commutation of death sentence to life was illegally done in 2000 by the NDA government at the centre and the DMK government in Tamil Nadu, by asking the Governor to proclaim it. Only the President of India can give such pardon under the Constitution. Hence, if any move is made by Ms.Vadra to free Nalini from prison for some quid pro quo, I shall file a PIL against the same, and even ask for cancellation of the illegal commutation.

The Supreme Court today permitted an adjournment of two weeks asked for by the Senior Counsel for the Union of India, Mr.F.S.Nariman because he wanted to file a comprehensive list of dates and a summary of all the reports filed by the Government. The next date of hearing is fixed for April 29, 2008.
Earlier, the main petitioner, former Union Law Minister, Dr.Subramanian Swamy told the Court that the Government had failed to file an affidavit on whether they consider Rama Setu as an ancient monument of national importance, and whether it is considered sacred by the Hindus. Dr.Swamy pointed out that since the Rama Setu is considered sacred by the people, hence it cannot be damaged in any way without committing a cognizable offence under Section 295 of the IPC. This the Supreme Court cannot sanction or permit. Therefore the Union government must take a clear cut stand for the people to know so that the Court can accordingly decide the matter.

The proposal of the NCP leader Mr. Praful Patel to support Ms.Sonia Gandhi or Mr.Rahul Gandhi for the post of Prime Minister after the next General Elections to the Lok Sabha, is laughable and unimplementable.
Under the reciprocity proviso to Section 5 of the Citizenship Act, Ms.Sonia Gandhi is ineligible for the post of Prime Minister of India because in Italy Indian taking Italian citizenship cannot become the Prime Minister and hence on reciprocity, Italians becoming Indian citizens cannot become Prime Minister of India. It was this proviso which was responsible for the somersault of Ms.Sonia Gandhi, from staking the claim for Prime Ministership on 16th May, 2004, and then withdrawing the same in favour of Dr.Manmohan Singh on May 18th, 2004. Although this proviso has since been deleted by the then outgoing NDA Government, it is however illegal because the said deletion was carried out on an Act passed in January 2004 for NRIs. Under the Objects and Reasons of the Bill moved in Parliament to enact this law does not empower the Government to delete the said proviso to Section 5 of the Citizenship Act. Hence if Ms.Sonia Gandhi stakes her claim to the Prime Ministership of India it is subject to challenge in court along with the challenge to the deletion of the said proviso to the Citizenship Act.
As far as Mr.Rahul Gandhi is concerned, he was born when his mother was still an Italian citizen and hence his name was under Italian Citizenship Act automatically entered in the Citizenship Register maintained by the Italian Government and the Italian Embassy in New Delhi. Mr.Gandhi has never renounced his Italian citizenship and hence the legality of his Indian citizenship can also be challenged since India does not recognize dual citizenship.

I therefore urge all to accept the judgment. I however will oppose reservation for Muslims and Christians because they are members of former ruling classes just as Brahmins and Kshatriyas were. They are therefore only entitled to scholarships and loans for those who are poor today.

Mr.Karunanidhi may roar like a Tamil tiger inside the State about Tamil welfare, but if the Central Government even stares at him, he will meow like domesticated cate. For safeguarding Tamils therefore Mr.Karunanidhi and his DMK should be thrown out by the people in the next election.

STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY, MADE IN CHENNAI ON APRIL 2, 2008
I demand that Mr.P.Chidambaram be asked to resign from the Finance Ministership forthwith for his utter failure to control the current galloping prices of essential goods, manufactured products and construction materials. This vindicates my earlier prediction that the 2008-09 Union Budget is retrograde and will cause a price spiral.
The Union Finance Minister Mr.Chidambaram’s claim that the current inflationary trends are due to international factors is bogus. Recession and the collapsing stock market in the US economy cannot cause price rise in essential commodities in India.
The current inflation in the country is the cumulative effect of rotten economic policies of the UPA government. The stock market is now rigged due to the Finance Minister’s promotion of Participatory Notes, which is a camouflaged financial instrument of hawala racketeers. Similiarly forward trading by business houses permitted by the UPA government in agricultural products causes artificial shortages by profiteering and thus price rise. The sharp rise in money supply due to rising fiscal deficit, increasing petrol & diesel prices, and bogus schemes such as NREGs and loan waivers, lead to inflation.
Mr.Chidambaram claimed in the Budget speech in Lok Sabha that he is the “luckiest Finance Minister”. Personally he is lucky but the nation is swamped in misfortune. His personal wealth due to corrupt practices is now pegged at Rs.7000 crores. Any future government can prosecute him, for example on the 1997 VDIS scheme itself in which on his behalf about Rs.400 crores were declared. Even on the Fairgrowth share fraud he can be prosecuted any time in the future because there is no time limitation for offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
My book titled Rama Setu: Symbol of National Unity has been published and will be released at a function in New Delhi on April 20th by Swami Dayanand Sarasvati, the Convenor of the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha (the apex body of all religious heads of Mutts across the country). Mr.Ashok Singhal, the VHP President and Mr.Mohan Bhagwat, General Secretary of the RSS will address the gathering at the function.
In the book I have shown that the statistics revealed in the so-called Committee of Eminent Persons set up by the Government show that the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project (SSCP) will be in loss of about Rs.800 crores per year from the very first year and thus will ruin the economy. Even the Committee has admitted in their report that some of the numbers on which the Detailed Project Report of the SSCP had made its calculations are wrong and inflated. The Union Shipping Minister T.R.Baalu using these wrong numbers had misled Parliament to believe that the SSCP will be profitable. Hence Mr.Baalu must be prosecuted for this fraud on the people, and the expenditure to date on the SSCP should be recovered by attaching his wealth. I shall present a detail analysis of the economics of the SSCP in the Supreme Court and ask for the project to be scrapped.
Thus, Mr.Karunanidhi will face his nemesis on this issue. Lord Sri Rama will be a victor and the Rama Setu will be protected.

The Union Government’s confirmation that LTTE cells have sprouted in the State of Tamil Nadu and painting a grim picture of the existence and growth of LTTE in the State, confirms what I have been warning the nation for the last two years.
Because of the long association of Mr.Karunanidhi, currently the Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, and encouraged by the mysterious alliance of the Sonia Gandhi-led Congress Party with DMK, the pro-LTTE activities in the State have now a free run. No widow in India will enter into an alliance with those who praise or abet the killers of her husband. It has been held by the Supreme Court twice that it is the LTTE which assassinated Mr.Rajiv Gandhi. Yet Ms.Gandhi is with these anti-national forces.
In 1991 when I was a senior Minister holding the portfolio of Law in the Government headed by Mr.Chandrashekhar, Mr.Karunanidhi similarly clandestinely abetted LTTE, but decisive action on our part in dismissing the DMK Government under Article 356 of the Constitution enabled us to substantially eliminate the LTTE’s presence in the State. The same decisive action is now once again necessary because the scenario is exactly the same. With Mr.Karunanidhi in office, Tamil Nadu risks becoming another LTTE dominated terrorist haven.
It is also a matter of serious concern that the LTTE has established camps in Kerala. The recent demand for creating a shipping channel cutting through Ramasetu in the name of Setu Samudram Shipping Channel Project, by pro-LTTE forces in Tamil Nadu such as DMK, PMK, MDMK, Dalit Panthers, D.K.etc., is primarily to assist the LTTE to navigate quickly from Jaffna to the Kerala coasts without having to go around the Island of Sri Lanka. Hence not only the Tamil Nadu Government should be dismissed forthwith as an anti-national Government but the Setu Samudram Project should be scrapped forthwith since it poses a major national security risk for the integrity of the nation.

STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY, MADE IN CHENNAI ON 16.03.2008
The Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project (SSCP) has suffered a further blow with Muslim MPs of the Congress Party expressing reservations about the wisdom of a project that cuts a channel through the Rama Setu. Leaders of the party such as Ahmed Patel and Mohsina Kidwai have told their top party leaders that breaking the Rama Setu would “empower the Hindutva brigade” in the future to go on a rampage and justify a future demolition of mosques in the name of economic development.
Hence they have urged that the project be dropped altogether rather than court any controversy. In Kashmir, the Hurriyat Chief Mirwaiz Omar has also condemned the proposal under the SSCP to demolish the Setu.
The fact-finding team constituted to probe the circumstances of the interference by police and certain anti-Hindu organizations to disrupt proceedings in the Chidambaranar Nataraj temple will visit the area on March 30th. Besides myself, the VHP International Working Presiding Mr.S.Vedantam, Ms.V.S.Chandralekha IAS (Retd) Mr.V.Sundaram IAS (Retd) and a former judge will constitute the team.
The Government of Tamil Nadu has denied that my telephone is being tapped. However, I am filing an application under the RTI to ascertain more details before going to Court.
Congress persons should hang their heads in shame for the ten year tenure of Ms.Sonia Gandhi as Congress President. To achieve this position a series of mysterious deaths have paved her way. Ms.Gandhi illegally deposed Sitaram Kesari, humiliated P.V.Narasimha Rao and rigged the Congress President’s election in her favour to defeat Mr.Jitendra Prasad. Later Mr.Prasad died under mysterious circumstances. So too Rajesh Pilot and Madhavrao Scindia, her challenger were killed.
Ms.Gandhi has also done what no India widow would ever think of doing: align with those parties and persons who praise the LTTE, the killers of her husband Rajiv Gandhi.
Ms.Gandhi has also been caught lying about her past… her educational qualifications for example. She had hid her KGB connections and her family’s Nazi past.

The disclosure today in the media that the LTTE has been contracting boat building in Kochi confirms what I had publicly stated two months ago.
At a press conference in Chennai I had said that because of the campaign by AIADMK leader Ms.Jayalalitha and myself in Tamil Nadu against the LTTE presence in the State, that terrorist organization has shifted its base out of Tamil Nadu to Kerala, and in particular at Kochi, Trivandrum and Kannur.
More ominous, to facilitate easy access from Jaffna peninsula in Sri Lanka to Kerala by sea, the LTTE was putting pressure on the friendly UPA parties to speed up the implementation of the Sethusamudram Ship Canal Project. Hence, the Naval Chief and the Coast Guard Chief both went public to warn that the SSCP will pose serious national security risk.
I demand that therefore the dismissal of the DMK-led Government in Tamil Nadu to secure our national interests and scrapping of the SSCP forthwith.

A retrograde, visionless Budget

ACCORDING to a well-placed media lead (See "Cong's Wishlist" on page 17, Hindustan Times, New Delhi, Febru ary 7, 2008), a conclave of 38 party leaders had told the Finance Minister that this year they would like to have a Budget "that caters for the aam aadmi." The implication of this directive is : the last four Budgets of Mr Chidambaram did not cater to the ‘aam aadmi.' Much is made by the Finance Minister about the higher growth of GDP since 2004. Over 75 per cent of this growth is contributed by the service sector in which the government has made no significant contribution, except to get out of the way. But, despite the high GDP growth rate of nearly 9 percent per year since 2004, what is important to realise is that today because the ‘internal organs' of the Indian economy are not healthy the growth has declined to below 9 percent.
In fact, the exports and private consumption increases are also slowing down, an ominous sign of coming recession. Economists realise that because of such internal hemorrhaging, if it is not rectified, any fast growing economy can collapse suddenly, as the 1997 experience of the East Asian economies shows. What then are the present ills of the economy that is causing the hemorrhaging? Principally these are five in number.
First: Jobless Low Productivity Growth. The growth rate of the economy though high, between eight and nine per cent annually is not generating enough jobs, which is growing only at 2.25 per cent per year since 19992000. To progressively reduce the unemployment backlog, absorb excess farm labour into industry, and provide jobs for the new entrants into the labour force, employment must grow at about 3.5 percent per annum rate. At the same time, the economy must raise productivity of labour and capital through induced innovation and new management practices. Hence, in the Budget there must be adequate provision for encouragement for labourusing, instead of labour substituting technology and projects, and for promotion of innovations and the use of IT industry through radical tax breaks and R & D. This means that the Education sector has to be nurtured in the Budget for adequate skill empowerment of the younger generation in schools and colleges. But in the entire Budget speech of the FM, there is no reference anywhere to the need to systematically deal with this issue.
This malaise cannot be rectified by setting up a few IITs and IIMs. It requires a comprehensive modernisation of primary and secondary education and dealing with the drop-out of students and non-attendance of teachers in schools.
Second: Lack of agricultural reforms: the growth rate in agriculture should be at least 4 per cent annually to sustain the 8.10 per cent GDP growth. But since 1997, agriculture in the Indian economy has grown at a trend rate of just 2.5 per cent with wide fluctuations year to year, which is due to lack of reforms, declining public investment, and poor pre-modern infrastructure. Hence, suicides of farmers is increasing every year at the rate of 3.5 percent. By a one-time decision bonanza of writing off debts of marginal farmers, the rural people cannot be inspired to come out of their depression.
Rather than resorting to the very silly ad hoc measures for uplifting the rural people such as ‘Bharat Nirman', the NREG and other ‘yojanas' named after the Nehru family, which have failed to meet the targets, and for which financial allocations are consumed in leakages and corruption, the Budget must instead directly empower farmers so they are able to export their produce abroad, which will fetch higher prices, by imaginative schemes and e-commerce, rather than by providing more subsidies and higher procurement prices that will keep farmers crippled forever.
Third: Huge Fiscal Deficit: Government are impounding public sector bank funds (nearly 48%) to the tune of Rs.1,50,000 crores and more to, finance the Budget deficit, thereby starving the private sector (especially in manufacturing) of resources. The claim made by the FM that fiscal deficit as a ratio of GDP is declining, is false, and is achieved by Enron-type bogus accounting that has been laid bare by the C & AG.
Chidambaram has also a propensity to play to the gallery of left-wing unions of organised labour by working fiscal balances through appointment of pre-mature Pay Commission, and then creating a capital account budget surplus to finance the huge revenue account budget deficit thus caused.
According to Budget documents, this surplus in the capital account budget is Rs.55,184 crores, all of which is transferred to the revenue Budget to meet the deficit. This is most antidevelopmental. No wonder inflation is rampant today.
Fourth: Debt Trap: The debt accu mulated by Centre and States is so large (86% of GDP) that the annual amortisation servicing outlay (i.e. interest payments) now exceeds the fresh loans taken! According to Budget documents, the fresh loans received of Rs.133,287 crores is less than interest payments for the coming year by Rs.57,632 crores. This situation is unsustainable and can explode into a financial crisis as it did in Indonesia and South Korea in 1997.
Fifth: Budget Allocations are straitjacketed: Due to the folly of all Finance Ministers since 1996, nearly 98 per cent of the receipts of Budget revenue are committed to heads that cannot be politically pruned. That is, items such as defence, subsidies, interest payments, counter-guarantees, pensions, police, and grants to States are those committed allocations that weak governments cannot reduce. Those commitments together leave only two per cent of the rural revenue receipts for other sectors.
Hence, the union and state governments are dependent on loans for funding other heads of capital expenditure which however, due to the coming debt trap, is an evaporating option for such funds.
So the question is: Does the Budget (2008-09) address these five major ills that contribute to the economic malaise today, and prevent further aggravation of the economic situation, which is taking the country closer to the brink of financial disaster?
The short answer is obviously ‘No'.
The 2008-09 Budget falls miserably flat in dealing with these above five ills of the economy. Thus it is a hotch-potch retrograde Budget. It lacks vision, strategy of reforms or direction.

This is a systemic issue. There are in fact no longterm schemes for desperate farmers committing suicides, for salaried persons suffering from inflation, and for small and medium industries suffocated by globalisation, and for stabilising the volatile stock market. So much for the aam aadmi.
Hence, I urge all patriotic parties to vote against this retrograde Budget in Parliament, and the people to kick this government out at the next elections.
The question that remains is what should be done in a Budget, to rescue the Indian economy from the current tall-spin leading to an enormous fiscal crisis?
First of all, the middle classes have to be motivated to save more, go in for financial products such as insurance and equity, and buy consumer durables on credit. For this we must abolish income tax which is largely at the root of India's black money.
The resources lost for the government thereby can more than be recouped through increased quantum of excise revenue due to a higher growth rate arising from the resulting higher investment.
Secondly, Indian industry must be encouraged to out-compete Chinese labour-intensive manufacturing especially in outsourcing and value-added exports, and thereby divert East Asia semi-processed manufacture exports presently going to China and instead re-route via India to the West. For this, India must invite FDI and otherwise invest in food processing, textiles, retail trade, infrastructure and R & D to encourage East Asians to do so.
Thirdly, treat Agriculture as an industry and extend all the fiscal concessions of industry to it. Land should be leased and consolidated where the farmers' co-operatives want to enter grain, vegetable, fruit, milk and flower exports. Local feeder airports should be constructed for speedy freight transport and e-commerce introduced for easy exports of agricultural products.
Fourthly, to discourage government from poaching on bank finances to finance its revenue expenditure, the public sector banks must be privatised. The Government can compete with others for these funds through the market, or by floating equity of public sector enterprises.
Based on these four sign posts, I would re-draft the 2008-09 Budget.

Moreover, Bharat Nirman achievements or irrigation, drinking water, rural roads, rural houses, electrification, and rural telephone connections are less than one-third of the target.
Further, there is no long-term scheme for desperate farmers committing suicides, salaried persons suffering from inflation, small and medium industries suffocated by globalization, and for stabilizing the volatile stock market.

ySTATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY MADE IN CHENNAI ON 21.02.2008
By two suicidal moves, the UPA at the Centre and the DMK at the Tamil Nadu level have destroyed the case they have been making in favour of the Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project (SSCP):
The first argument that they had been giving is that in a secular state committed to modern progress, religious sentiment cannot be a determinant factor in decision-making by the State. The DMK has been pressing this type of argument especially hard during the last 50 years.
This argument was however sabotaged by the DMK itself when the TN Government filed a review petition in the Supreme Court in the Jallikattu issue on January 15th this year and argued for permitting the wild bull race on the ground that the religious sentiment of the Madurai District population has to be respected. In Rama Setu matter, the religious sentiments of almost 1 billion Hindus of the nation is affected, not just two millions one district. Hence, the Rama Setu has to be protected.
Second, the Union Government has been taking the stand that Rama Setu is a ‘natural formation’ and not ‘man-made’ or constructed, and hence it is argued that the Setu cannot a heritage be or an ancient monument.
This argument has now been self-negated by the Union Government by its decision to declare the Majuli Island, a mid-river deltaic island in Assam’s Jorhat district and also to approach the UNESCO to declare the island as a “World Heritage” symbol because it is a “cultural landscape”! This destroys the ‘natural formation’ argument of the Government against Rama Setu.
Hence, my petition in the Supreme Court to save the Rama Setu is bound to succeed in the Apex Court. The SSCP is thus already “dead on arrival”.
The Election Commission, by a majority of 2:1, has decided to issue notice to the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, seeking her response to an allegation that she had incurred disqualification as a Member of Parliament, under Article 102(1)(d) of the Constitution, for accepting the ‘Order of Leopold’ from the King of Belgium in November 2006. Article 102 (e) of the Constitution says that a person shall be disqualified for being chosen as, and for being, (a line missing – see encl) a member…. India, or has voluntarily acquired the citizenship of a foreign state, or is under any acknowledgement of allegiance or adherence to a foreign state.”
Disqualification of Ms.Gandhi is thus attracted under Article 102 (1) (d) of the Constitution for being “under any acknowledgment of allegiance or adherence to a foreign state.”
On being granted the ‘title’ Ms.Gandhi had signed the Register as Member of the ‘Association of the Order of Leopold’ Article 1 of the Association has the provision that the Association members will ‘display an eternal devotion to Belgium and the monarchy,’ Ms.Gandhi had thus attracted disqualification.” [see Enclosure]
A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, as President had referred to the Commission a petition on this matter received from P.Rajan an advocate of Kochi. It is significant that Election Commission’s Legal Department had recommended ‘Issue of Notice’ to Ms.Gandhi in September 2007 but it was only on February 14, 2008 that the EC found a prima facie case had been made out by the petitioner for issuing notice.
When Sonia Gandhi, President of the Indian National Congress and chairperson of the ruling United Progressive Alliance, accepted in person the highest honour given by the King of Belgium, the Order of Leopold, on 15 November, 2006, she should have realised the legal and constitutional implications of a sitting member of the Lok Sabha accepting such foreign titles having learnt the hard way the significance of Article 102 in the office of profit matter earlier. Section (2) of Article 18 of the Indian Constitution says: “No citizen of India shall accept any title from any foreign state;”, and Section (4) says: “No person holding any office of profit or trust under the state shall, without the consent of the President, accept any present, emolument, or office of any kind from or under any foreign state.”
That Sonia Gandhi had not taken any permission from the President is evident from the fact that Dr.Abdul Kalam, who was then the President, had forwarded the representation from Advocate Rajan, seeking her disqualification as member of the Lok Sabha for accepting the award from the King of Belgium.
The Order of Leopold is not an ordinary title given by a foreign power. It demands the devotion and loyalty of the recipient to the King of Belgium. Sonia Gandhi attended in person the investiture ceremony in Belgium and signed the register of the Association of the Order of Leopold, signifying her voluntary declaration of allegiance to the King of Belgium, a foreign monarch of a dubious reputation. The Association of the Order of Leopold was established in 1944 with a view to displaying “eternal devotion to Belgium and to the monarchy.” Every member of the Association must, under law, take an oath which says: “I swear not to undertake anything that could damage the respectability of the Order of Leopold and to fully observe the regulations and act as a loyal and faithful member.” Attempt by the Congress to compare Sonia Gandhi accepting the Belgium award to Morarji Desai accepting Nishan-e-Pakistan award or India conferring Bharat Ratna on Nelson Mandela, is stupid. The recipients in these cases were under no obligation to the country that offered the awards. That a member of Indian Parliament should express devotion and loyalty to King Leopold who plundered and massacred, the people of Belgium Congo, now called Zaire, is nationally demeaning and disgraceful.
The legality of such split loyalty was settled in 1985 when a Full Bench of the Madras High Court [AIR 1985 Mad.855] disqualified K.S.Haja Sharief, an Indian citizen, from membership of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council for accepting the title of Honorary Consul of Monaco, a tiny European country.
The Election Commission should therefore let law take its course, and disqualify Ms.Gandhi. She should also publicly apologize to the people of all Third World countries for declaring allegiance to a brutal, feudal oppresser of the Zaire people. Now that the TN CM Mr.Karunanidhi has started visiting temples as also prostrating before sadhu sanyasis like Puttaparthi Sai Baba, it is time he gets amended in the TN Legislative Assembly the TNHRE & CEA, that is the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religion Endowment and Charitable Act (1959), to hand over temple administration to the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha (HDAS) of eminent sadhus, and which is convened by Swami Dayananda Sarasvati of Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, in Anaikatti.
Already the Karnataka HRE & CEA has been struck down as unconstitutional by the Karnataka High Court, while in Andhra Pradesh, the Congress Government has amended the State’s Act to hand over the temple administration to a “Dharmika Parishad”
Hence, if the TN CM does not similarly had over the Tamil Nadu temple administration to the HDAS by August 15th, I shall approach the courts to force the TN Government to do so.
Let Mr.Karunanidhi learn from his Rama Setu experience not to meddle in Hindu religion affairs.

The Union Government must enter into an urgent consultation with the apex Hindu body of sadhus, namely the Hindu Dharma Acharya Sabha (HDAS) convened by Swami Dayananda Sarasvati, to substantially amend the Hindu Religious Endowments and Charitable Trust Act (1951) to bring it in conformity with Article 25 and 26 of the Constitution. At present the Act provides for total and suffocating control of Hindu temples in the country by the Government at the Centre and States, while exempting Mosques and Churches completely even from Government oversight supervision. This is highly discriminatory against the Hindus who are 83% of India’s population, and thus violates Article 14, 25 and 26 of the Constitution.
At recent conclave viz. the Third Conference of the HDAS held in the Adi Chunchanagiri Ashram in Mandya District of Karnataka (February 9-11, 2008), my invited paper on “Temple Governance” was discussed, and the HDAS adopted a unanimous Resolution on the subject. Armed with this Resolution, I met the AP Chief Minister Mr.Rajshekhar Reddy yesterday in Hyderabad with a delegation of the AP Hindu Devalaya Parirakshana Samiti, and urged the CM to further amend the AP Hindu Religious Endowment and Charitable Trusts Act (1987) thereby totally divest the governance of AP temples from the State Government control. The CM had last year got amended Section 152 (1) of the Act to vest the governance of temples with a Dharmika Parishad, but retained the power to nominate Parishad members entirely from and by the Government.
I therefore demanded of the CM that the power to nominate the Parishad be instead handed over to the HDAS since this body consists of the senior most sadhus, such as all the Shankaracharyas, Mahamandelswars and Peedapathis of institutions older than 200 years (hence qualified to be called Acharyas).
The Karnataka High Court has already struck down that State’s Act and an appeal is pending in the Supreme Court. Following the observations of the Supreme Court, the Karnataka Government had appointed Dr.Rama Jois Committee to advise on the necessary amendments to obviate the scrapping of the Act as a whole. This committee in its Report to Government too has recommended that the temple governance responsibility be transferred to a committee of Hindu acharyas.
I hope therefore the AP CM will not force me to litigate on the matter and will voluntarily accept this reasonable demand of the Hindus.

There is nothing wrong in the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Mr.Tejinder Khanna indulging in self-criticism of North Indians’ propensity to break rules and the law. Since Mr.Khanna is himself a North Indian, he has a right to criticize himself.
North Indians have however won the admiration of all democratic Indians for their courageous united voting in 1977 to unseat the then dictator Ms.Indira Gandhi at the polls. At that moment of truth the South Indians let the nation down by voting for the Congress Party.
All us therefore need to improve and Mr.Khanna’s remarks should be taken in that spirit.

STATEMENT OF DR. SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF THE JANATA PARTY, MADE IN CHENNAI ON FEBRUARY 2, 2008.
1.I have sent a notice to the Chief Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Government seeking explanation for the illegal tapping of mobile phone conversation of certain opponents of the Government including myself.
I have decided to sue the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Karunanidhi for Rs.1 crore in damages caused by violating my Fundamental Rights under Article 19 of the Constitution. The CM has flouted all the safeguards laid down by the Supreme Court in 1997. A bland denial in the Assembly will not do.
Mr.Karunanidhi may recall the fate of the Ramakrishna Hegde Government in Karnataka after Mr. Hegde had ordered (in 1988) similarly the tapping of telephones. He too had blandly denied the tapping till I produced the documents.
2.The Setusamudram Ship Channel Project is now in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and on oxygen provided by Karunanidhi. However, the demise of the project is certain.
Thus, Lord Sri Rama has defeated the conspiracy of Karunanidhi and Sonia Gandhi to defame Hindu religion. Like Ravana and Tadaka both will come to grief soon.
3.After Mr.Baalu recklessly sent me a legal notice, I have decided to prove in a court of law that Mr.Baalu is a crook who should be prosecuted under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the IPC for criminal misappropriation of Government funds.
Accordingly I have applied for sanction to prosecute Mr.Baalu by writing on February 1, 2008 complaint to the Prime Minister.

The Rs.800 crores that have been spent so far have been done at the behest of the Union Shipping and Transport Minister Mr.T.R.Baalu without security clearance from the armed forces and intelligence agencies as well as without obtaining prior clearance of the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board, and hence the amount should be recovered by prosecuting Mr.T.R.Baalu and by attaching his assets and his benami companies.

I demand that the Tamil Nadu Government headed by Mr.Karunanidhi be dismissed because the CM illegally tapped my telephones. It is well known that the Mr.Karunanidhi is pro-LTTE while I have to be under a Z-security CRPF cover provided by the Central Government because I am on the hit list of the LTTE. In the past Mr.Karunanidhi has written several times to the Union Home Ministry seeking to withdraw my security cover as demanded by pro-LTTE organizations such as the DK in Tamil Nadu.
Hence, the only reason for Mr.Karunanidhi to tap my telephones illegally is prima facie to help the LTTE know of my plans and contacts since I have been effective is exposing the dangerous murderous terrorist organization that the LTTE is, the world over. There can be no other reason.
If the Centre does not act against the DMK government within two weeks, I shall sue the Tamil Nadu Government in the Court for Rs.10 crores in damages for invading my privacy, violating my fundamental rights, and causing risk to my life.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Karunanidhi should shop wailing about the SethuSamudram Ship Channel Project (SSCP) at every public function pleading with the Centre to implement the project expeditiously ignoring the objections of others.
The SSCP is however now “clinically dead” and is surviving only on the oxygen of the rhetoric of Mr.Karunanidhi. Only formal cremation and final rites of the project now remains. Mr.Karunanidhi should realize that like Ravana, he too has been defeated by Lord Rama.
Instead of grieving for the dead project, Mr.Karunanidhi should, for the rapid development of the coastal districts of Tamil Nadu ask the Centre should build double broad gauge railway lines and a six lane National High connecting Kanyakumari to Kolkata along the coast. The Mannar Bay should be developed as a Marine Economic Zone, and as an export container port, while an international airport should be constructed in Tuticorin.
Therefore Mr.Karunanidhi should learn from the Bhagwat Gita and think positively about the future, instead of the dead past.

KOCHI: The competition among India, China and the United States will not be for natural resources such as oil and gas but for intelligence and creating knowledge that spark inventions, said Yan Xuetong of the Tsinghua University, China.
The future will be based not on technology but on knowledge that will be put to creative use to make inventions, he said here on Wednesday at the concluding session of the three-day conference on the “India-China-U.S.A. Triangle,” convened by Centre for National Renaissance, New Delhi.
“Discuss global issues”
He also called for discussions on global issues such as environmental concerns that would be dominating talks among countries in the near future. He suggested that environmental concerns be discussed at the next meeting of the Triangle.
A statement issued at the end of the meeting said that the deliberations would continue through further interactions, “if possible on an annual basis.”
The statement, read out by N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu, also noted the interest shown by participants from the Tsinghua University for holding the next conference on the topic in Beijing.
Areas of discussion
On future research areas, there were several suggestions. Subramanian Swamy, former Union Minister for Commerce and Chairman, Centre for National Renaissance, New Delhi, said that terrorism should be a topic for discussions.
Non-proliferation
Mr. Ram, who also chaired the concluding session, said that mass deprivation should be another area for discussions. M. D. Nalapatt, Professor of Geopolitics, Manipal University, wanted non-proliferation to be discussed. Tang Lu of the Xinhua News Agency, commenting on the proceedings over the three days, said that the media played a big role in fostering good relations.
Fears allayed
Roderick Macfarquhar of Harvard University said that India could relax about improving Sino-U.S. relations because better relations between the two countries meant better world atmosphere that would be advantageous to India too. He was making a presentation on Sino-U.S. Relations and India at the seventh session of the conference.
Professor Macfarquhar said that neither India nor China needed to worry about any of them getting closer to the U.S. This is a Cold War worry, pointing out that China would continue to be a major focus for the United States.
He said that China enjoyed enormous respect among the world community but this respect would remain partial until China evolved a more liberal system.

KOCHI: The former Foreign Secretary Salman Haidar said here on Wednesday that India had a big opportunity in building its relationship with Pakistan through the Iran-India gas pipeline.
Speaking at the seventh session of the three-day conference on the “India-China-U.S.A. Triangle,” Mr. Haidar said India’s interest in Iran was not purely for accessing its natural gas. It was a building block in India’s relations with Pakistan.
Unfortunately, this pipeline has been discouraged by the U.S. that is primarily targeting Iran for spreading its influence in the region. This has been particularly disappointing for India.
This was a big opportunity for bringing India and Pakistan together and the U.S. opposition is a contradiction in the U.S. policy, he added.
Mr. Haidar also said perceptions about India’s democracy degenerating into incoherence were not right. There was an entirely coherent decision-making process in the country, he said.
Efforts by India to improve its relationship with China had been going on for a long time. He said it was not good to leave the India-China border issue unsettled.
He also said perceptions about India and China being rivals forever were not correct.
Interests of both the countries had converged in unexpected ways and if they stood together at international fora, they could not be pushed over, he said.

KOCHI: Russia has to be brought into the India-China-U.S. equation, N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief, Hindu, The said on Wednesday.
Participating in a discussion on ‘Sino-Indian Relations and the U.S.’ held as part of the international conference on ‘India-China-U.S.A. Triangle’ here, Mr. Ram said it had to be quadrilateral especially if “you are formulating broader principles of cooperation.”
He said: “If these three countries can cooperate, show cause why, given the strong links, Russia should not be brought into the equation.”
Improvement in ties
Describing Russia as very important for both China and India, Mr. Ram said the relationship with Russia, which had declined in the case of India for a long time, now bounced back.
Pointing out that a resurgent Russia with a powerful leadership was throwing challenges in the international arena, Mr. Ram said the rebalancing of international relations or at least regional relations, bringing in Russia as well in many ways including energy and defence cooperation and also in the political sphere on issues of Iran, would make a profound difference today.
Defining event
Pointing out that the defining event in India-China relations came about at the initiative of Deng Xiaoping, Mr. Ram said the Chinese leader gave the message about the need to get together to Foreign Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1979 and to Rajiv Gandhi in December 1988 particularly on the boundary question, which was a great obsession in India at that point of time.
“I remember it like yesterday Deng saying to Rajiv Gandhi and earlier to Vajpayee as well that by all means let us try to resolve this question. But if we cannot, Deng said, let us put it to the side and go along improving relations all around. While it was difficult for the political India to swallow those words, that is exactly what has happened over time.”
Giving credit to successive governments for seeing the light in India-China relations that many people were advocating earlier and building them extremely well, Mr. Ram said the only residual issue seemed to be how to manage the line of actual control.
“There is no line. In a sense, it is a reality but also perception,” he said.
Referring to the document “A Shared Vision for 21st Century,” signed during the recent China visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Mr. Ram said the agreement on ensuring sustainable development of both countries against the backdrop of increasing uncertainties in the global economy was one of the key formulations. The second key formulation was that this partnership “will have a positive influence on the future of the international system.”
Suggesting that this vision had to be taken forward, Mr. Ram said trade between the two nations was galloping ahead. He said trade targets had been met two years ahead of schedule. “I am sure that the target of $60 billion will be overfulfilled by 2010.”
Referring to the boundary issue, Mr. Ram said it was not going to be resolved any time soon. The progress had been at snail’s pace since the exercise was undertaken in 1988 although both governments had instructed and re-instructed their special representatives to accelerate the pace.
Mr. Ram pointed out that it would be very hard for any Indian government if the settlement came assuming that it would involve some kind of transfer of population and ceding territory.
Recommending that Indian foreign policy should give up the tilt towards the U.S., he said much of the concerns in India particularly of the Left with government policies related to the idea of strategic partnership with the U.S.

Says it could be used to make a political point
KOCHI: Natural gas has become a new political and economic weapon that could be used to make a political point, said Professor Marshall Goldman of Harvard University here on Tuesday.
He was speaking to The Hindu on the sidelines of the three-day meet on the India-China-USA Triangle convened by the Centre for National Renaissance, New Delhi.
Professor Goldman, an expert on Russia, said natural gas now had more potential than oil, as natural gas supply lines acted like the umbilical cord. If it snapped, countries could come under pressure. He cited the instance of Ukraine cutting off natural gas supply to the European Union nations.
Professor Goldman, who later made a presentation on India-China-U.S. Energy Triangle, called natural gas a double-edged sword. It could be used for economic and political bargains. Cutting off natural gas supplies would be worse than oil embargoes because there were several options in sourcing oil.
He said India and China had sought oil and natural gas from Russia. This move was a diversification from the Middle East. But Russians realised that they had a new economic and political tool in their hands which threw up possibilities.
Using natural gas as a source of energy was good because it was cleaner. Sourcing it from Russia and the Central Asian countries would generate wealth for the region, he pointed out.
Prof. Yitzhak Shichor from Hebrew University, Israel, made a presentation on “Regulation or Strangulation: Beijing, Delhi and Washington in pursuit of Energy.”
He began his presentation by saying that the U.S. was Buddha of the past, China of the present and India of the future. The three countries do not have their own domestic sources to feed their energy demands, he said.
The paper analysed the competition among the U.S., India and China for oil resources from a strategic perspective. The three would remain the primary energy consumers for a long time to come. The key to ensuring energy supplies was engagement among the countries.
The former Energy Secretary, E.A.S. Sharma, sought regional cooperation in meeting the energy demands. He called for gas grids in place of bilateral pipelines so as to end the monopoly situation. There could be an electricity grid that included countries such as Nepal and Pakistan.

India plays on U.S. fears about China, says expert
KOCHI: The deep suspicions between the United States and China have allowed India to occupy the advantageous middle position in the China-India-U.S.-Triangle, John W. Garver of the Sam Nunn School of International Affairs, Georgia Institute of Technology, U.S., said here on Tuesday.
Presenting a paper on the ‘China-India-U.S. Triangle, 2001-2007’ at the international conference here, Mr. Garver said India played on U.S. fears of China’s rapidly growing power to secure U.S. support for Indian objectives.
“One crucial question for Indian strategists is how India may better utilise its current advantageous position in the new China-India-U.S. triangle. Such triangular configurations are not necessarily durable, and India could lose opportunities by failing to recognise and fully utilise the advantages of its current swing position,” he said.
Subramanian Swamy, former Union Minister for Commerce and Chairman of the New Delhi-based Centre for National Renaissance, said that prospects for improved U.S.-India relations appeared bright because U.S.-Pakistan partnership was dependent on the survival of Pakistan, which today is under siege, from all sides, internal and external, moderate and fundamentalist. “If Pakistan starts to unravel, then a U.S.-India compact to stem the consequences will become inevitable. This is a contingency that U. S. and India will have to provide for,” he said.
S.Krishnaswamy, former Air Chief Marshal, said it was unlikely that the U.S. and China would have common strategic interests other than those concerned with the war on terrorism. “Despite China having targeted the U.S. and [being] its main adversary, the new administration at the Capitol Hill is likely to work closer with China to garner support in world politics.”
He said that India was unlikely to have any kind of strategic relationship with China.
Participating in the discussion, N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief of Hindu The, said there had been incremental political gains during the Prime Minister’s visit to China, notably China’s commitment to promote bilateral civilian nuclear cooperation consistent with its international commitments and its support for “India’s aspirations to play a greater role in the U.N., including in the Security Council.”
Referring to the increasing trade relations between both the countries, Mr. Ram said China was already India’s largest developing partner. He said that an enhanced target of $60 billion had been set during Manmohan Singh’s visit.

Difficult to change world order unless both nations cooperate: Yan Xuetong

KOCHI: India-China border dispute could be resolved by improving political relations, renowned academician and Director of the Institute of International Studies at Tsinghua University Yan Xuetong said on Tuesday.
A border settlement was a settlement through negotiations, Prof. Yan, an international expert on China’s foreign policy, said in an interview to The Hindu.
It would be negotiations based on political will rather than military capability. Even if the border issue was not fully resolved in next 5 or 10 years, political relations would improve.
In Kochi to attend the international conference on “The India-China-U.S.A. Triangle”, Professor Yan said China had improved its political relationship with other countries without settling border disputes.
Author of several books including Practical Methods of International Studies (2001) and American Hegemony and China’s Security (2000), Prof. Yan shared his views on issues ranging from nuclear cooperation to Indo-U.S. relations during the half-hour interview.
“We cannot expect to improve the political relationship after settling the border dispute. As long as we improve our political relation, we can gradually move from freezing our border issue to settling our border issue,” he said.
Military relationship
Pointing out that it would not be possible to expect military relationship between both countries to grow very fast, he said it (the relationship) would not turn back. Military relationship was based on political will. “As long as Indian and Chinese leaders want to improve their relationship, I do not see any serious mutual conflict between us.”
While pointing out that India was in a favourable position of being wooed by all major powers, he said he doubted whether India’s international status would increase even if it became an American ally.
“Look at Japan. Its international status never increased being an ally of the U.S., but because of its oil economy. We cannot become more important because we are an ally of anyone.”
Nuclear cooperation
Professor Yan said nuclear cooperation between New Delhi and Beijing would start once India joined the Non-Proliferation Treaty agreement.
Asserting that economic relationship between India and China would grow faster than in any other sector in the next 10 years, he said it would develop faster than military relationship.
“China and India’s economic relationship will grow faster than China’s relationship with the U.S. in the next 15 years.”
Pointing out that it was very difficult to change the world order unless India and China cooperated, he said both countries could modify it once there was substantial cooperation. “If these two guys cooperate with each other they will change the world. If they confront each other, they would maintain the world the same.”

KOCHI: The former External Affairs Minister, Jaswant Singh, has said that it is time India woke up to the disaster it faces on account of the U.S. policy on Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Interacting with a group of journalists on the sidelines of an international conference on ‘’The India-China-U.S.A-Triangle’ on the SCMS campus here on Tuesday, Mr. Singh said the U.S. had absolutely no option left but to continue support for the regime of Pervez Musharraf.
“The U.S. policy in the region is a policy for disaster. It is necessary for the Indian government to recognise that,” he said.
Pointing out that the U.S. had a considerable presence in Pakistan and Afghanistan, Mr. Singh said that India did not even have direct land access to places such as Kabul. “India today is a large supporter and provides a lot of trade to Afghanistan. We cannot send goods for example from Amritsar to Kabul by land yet now,” he said.
India’s relationship with China should not be built on dreams, Mr. Singh said and added that there was a deficit of understanding and a surplus of suspicion in the relations.
The nation should move forward realistically and keep its interests while fostering relationship with China. It should not repeat the mistakes committed earlier. “India and China have at best competitive cooperation,” he said.
Asked about the possibility of an ‘India-China-U.S. Triangle,’ Mr. Jaswant Singh wondered whether a trilateral relation was really possible. “I do not see it.”
Saying that the entire neighbourhood of India, from Sri Lanka to the Gulf countries and the Maldives, was a circle of disturbed countries, he said this was a major challenge to India’s foreign policy. “I should really call the present arrangement of governance an arrangement at misgovernance.”
Mr. Singh said India had not sufficiently taken note of the perils to its security that the Maoist ‘take-over’ of Nepal had caused.
“I cannot explain the dimension when almost 178 districts of the country from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh northwards are today Maoist-afflicted. The internal situation in the country has never been so bad as it is today,” he added.

KOCHI: An international conference on the ‘India-China-U.S. Triangle,’ attended by eminent scholars on the subject, began here on Monday.
The three-day event is being organised by the Centre for National Renaissance, New Delhi, in association with John Fairbank Centre, Harvard University, U.S.; the Institute for International Studies and Centre for China in the World Economy, Tsinghua University, China.
In his address at the inaugural session, Education Minister M.A. Baby said China had built a mutually-beneficial relationship with the U.S. without sacrificing its interests. India’s relationship with the U.S. should also be built without sacrificing the nation’s interests, he said.
Important initiative
Terming the conference a very important initiative, Mr. Baby said the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had a very clear perception about the relationship among India, China and the U.S. The bedrock of the relationship between India and China was its mindset for strategic and economic development. India and China could determine the course of international events in a very big scale through this relationship, he said.
Strategic ties
Subramanian Swamy, chairman of the New Delhi-based Centre for National Renaissance, said the aim of the conference was to highlight critical issues such as the economic and strategic relations between India, China and the U.S.
He said that the conference would deliberate on the bilateral and trilateral relations of these three nations in the coming decades. It would be of extraordinary global interest, as India, China, and the U.S. were the most populous nations of the world, he said.
Highlighting the need to remove misunderstandings between the three nations, Dr. Swamy said the next round of the conference would be held at Tsinghua University in China. It would be an annual conference.
“I am committed to setting up a centre focussing on the India-China-U.S. triangle,” he said.
In his welcome address, G.P.C. Nayar, chairman of the SCMS Group of Educational Institutions, said the conference would discuss various issues related to India, China and the U.S.
Five sessions on the conference theme of India-China-U.S. Triangle will be held on the SCMS campus at Muttom, near here.

KOCHI: A three-day international conference on economic and strategic relations among India, China and the United States is to begin at the School of Communication and Management Studies (SCMS) campus at Muttom, near here, on Monday.
Over 35 experts are expected to participate in the conference.
It is organised by the Centre for National Renaissance, New Delhi; Fairbank Centre, Harvard University; and Institute for International Studies and Centre for China in the World Economy, Tsinghua University, China.
The Centre for National Renaissance was formed by the Naveen Hindustan Foundation, a registered Trust.
The foundation has been in existence since 2005.

STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY,
MADE IN CHENNAI ON 19.01.2008
1. I shall be filing a new interlocutory application {IA} next week in the Supreme Court seeking the complete scrapping of the Sethusamudran Ship Channel Project [SSCP] on the following grounds:
[a] The SSCP was sanctioned by the Union Cabinet without the mandatory prior clearance by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board. Post-sanction clearance by the TNPCB does not remove this legal defect, because retrospective environment clearance is not permitted under law.
[b] The project is in violation of the Ministry of Environment & Forest's binding advice contained in a letter dated April 8, 1999 to the Ministry of Surface Transport that the project is an environmental disaster and should be dropped altogether. There is no new fresh data that have been collected since that make it possible for the Ministry to revise its 1999 advice.
[c] The decision to select the Alignment No.6 channel route that requires cutting through the Rama Setu is illegal because NEERI has already submitted in a 1998 Report to the government that cutting through coral rocks and reefs would require blasting by using explosives and hence it will completely destroy the marine life in the Gulf of Mannar and Palk Straits. On this binding recommendation, the Ministry of Shipping dropped the Alignment No.5 because it would have needed blasting coral rocks near Dhanushkodi. Now the Alignment No.6 favoured by the DMK leaders requires ten times more blasting hence even more illegal.
[d] Following the jallikattu revised decision of the Supreme Court, wherein it is observed that the Tamil Nadu government has accepted the principle that status quo has to be maintained if any change hurts the religious sentiments of the people, therefore the Rama Setu cannot be damaged in anyway. Jallikattu affects only one district of India, while Rama Setu is revered by nearly a billion Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, and Jains the world over. Hence the principle of religious sentiments applies even more.
[e] The SSCP's detailed project report[DPR] was prepared before the Tsunami hit the Tamil Nadu coast. Now world renowned experts consulted by the government have opined that Rama Setu had helped to reduce the virulence of the Tsunami. Hence the DPR is out of date and the SSCP should be scrapped unless a new DPR is prepared to show that the channel will have any funnel effect in a Tsunami.
2. The SSCP is a financial white elephant. The claim of the Shipping Minister Mr. T.R. Baalu that the project will be an economic boon the Tamil Nadu is based on bogus and cooked up data. This has been proved and presented in my forthcoming new book titled: Rama Setu--A Symbol of National Unity. Hence I shall write to the PM soon seeking sanction to prosecute Baalu under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 420 of the IPC for misappropriating public funds for private gain.

I welcome the Delhi High Court issuing a Show Cause Notice to the Government asking why Mr.M.Karunanidhi the present Chief Minister of the DMK minority Government in Tamilnadu should not be prosecuted.
It would now be proper for the UPA chairperson Ms.Sonia Gandhi to advise Mr.Karunanidhi to seek an apology with folded hands before the public for his scurrilous and venomous remarks disparaging Bhagwan Sri Rama and thereby hurting the sacred and devoutly held faith and sentiments of the masses of India. This kind of advice to apologize with folded hands to sooth religious feelings was given by UPA Minister Priyaranjan Das Munshi to Ms.Taslima recently when she had written some objectionable words in her book on Islam.
If UPA is not to be accused of practicing double standards and Muslim appeasement, then Ms.Sonia Gandhi should ensure that Mr.Karunanidhi appears before the Court with folded hands and asks for being forgiven, on his promise of never again speaking against Rama.

STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY, MADE IN MADURAI JANUARY 5, 2008
1. The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mr.Karunanidhi and his lieutenant & Union Shipping Minister Mr.T.R.Baalu have been telling lies to the public about the existence of the Rama Setu, and on the economic and environmental viability of the Sethusamudram Shipping Channel Project (SSCP).
2. While Mr.Karunanidhi in his speeches debunks the Setu and Rama, the DMK State and the UPA Union Governments have been advertising and affirming the existence of the Setu and the historicity of Rama.
3 For example, the Tourist Department of the TN Government has been advertizing in Railway trains, urging the people to visit Rameshwaram and see where Rama set his “lotus feet”, to build a bridge (Setu) to Sri Lanka with the help of the Vanar Sena (see enclosed photos), to rescue his wife Sita.
4. The National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), of the Union Ministry of Space has published a book of satellite photographs [ISBN: 817525 6524] claiming that “archeological studies show” that the Setu may be “man made” (see enclosed photo). This book has been distributed to all MPs free by the Ministry of Space. Yet Ms.Ambika Soni as Minister of Culture to a question in Rajya Sabha (August 14, 2007) falsely stated that “no archeological studies has been made in respect of the Rama Setu”. This is a breach of privilege of the House, for which she should be punished.
5. The Ministry of Environment & Forests had in a letter dated April 8, 1999 to the Ministry of Surface Transport, conveyed it’s opinion that the SSCP should be scrapped as it is an environmental disaster (see enclosed letter). This opinion was based on an analysis of the NEERI Report of 1998. Yet in 2005 the Ministry reversed it’s opinion based on the same 1998 data. Why? No explanation has been given so far for this somersault.
6. The Ministry also suppressed a report prepared by Dr.S.Badrinarayanan, former Director of Geological Survey of India (GSI) in which based on a 2002 investigation under the sea near and at the Setu. The Report concluded that Rama Setu had been constructed, at least 9000 years ago, and is not a natural formation as claimed by Mr.Karunanidhi. However without consulting the GSI, the Ministry of Culture hastily filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court that “there is no information or studies in the knowledge of the Government that Rama Setu is man made”. Former ASI DG S.R.Rao has ridiculed this stand government (see enclosed letter).
7. The SSCP is an economic loss, an environmental disaster, a national security risk, and monumental corruption. It will enable T.R.B.Selvam & Co (T.R.Balu’s son’s company) to earn money and help LTTE to move it’s terrorist and narcotic base to Kerala Coast. Therefore this anti-national project should be scrapped if no other alternative route without breaking Rama Setu is acceptable to Mr.Karunanidhi. Sri Rama’s bhaktas will have their way, and atheist Karunanidhi will lose in this contest and be pushed out of office [see enclosed letter].
8. The TN Government is seriously considering my suggestion made in Madras High Court that the Melvisharam Town Panchayat be restored to its original position of two village panchayats since the Kezhvisharam portion Muslim population has been systematically denying civic amenities to the Hindus of Rasathupuram portion demanding their conversion to Islamic faith.

STATEMENT OF DR.SUBRAMANIAN SWAMY, PRESIDENT OF JANATA PARTY MADE IN CHENNAI ON JANUARY 4, 2008

1. The Sethusamudram Ship Channel Project (SSC) will now have to be scrapped because it is illegal. According to earlier Supreme Court judgments, prior environmental clearance of State Government Pollution Boards is necessary before the project can be inaugurated. But in the SSCP case, the PM inaugurated it on January 2, 2005 when the Tamil Nadu Pollution Board had not cleared the project. This fact was revealed by the then CM Ms.Jayalalitha in her message to the Rama Setu Rakksha Manch’s mammoth rally in Delhi on December 30th.
2. The SSCP is also illegal because the Ministry of Environment & Forests in a letter dated April 9, 1999 had advised the Ministry of Surface Transport to drop the project altogether because it is an environmental disaster. The NEERI had also stated in a report of 2002 that environmental clearance cannot be given if explosives are to be used to break through the Rama Setu, and hence the NEERI had rejected Alignment No.5, since it would have required using explosives near Dhanushkodi. Rama Setu however cannot be breached by dredging, and hence the Government was planning to use RDX when I obtained a stay from the Supreme Court. The SSCP thus is doomed to fail, and must be scrapped.
3. It is better therefore to develop Tuticorin and coastal areas of Tamil Nadu by developing a Marine Economic Zone, and by laying a double broad gauge railway line cum National Highway, connecting Tuticorin to Kolkata via Vishakapatnam.
4. The doctors of Gangaram Hospital must reveal the truth about the condition of Ms.Sonia Gandhi. The truth is that she had over-eaten infected lobsters imported from Italy during her New Year’s celebration dinner on December 31st. This had resulted in food poisoning.
5. The abolition of the monarchy in Nepal even before holding of the General Elections, on the demand of the Maoists, is serious blow to Nepal democracy and a major set back to India’s national interest.
The Government of India should ensure that present King Gyanendra is protected from mob violence and offered sanctuary in India till better times come for democracy in Nepal.
6. The Government of Tamil Nadu should make arrangement for Veeramani, Nedumaran and Vaiko to migrate to Mullaitheevu in Jaffna area because their patron, V.Prabhakaran is in dire straits. These three persons should show some loyalty to their benefactor whose ill-gotten narcotics trade cash has funded their activities in India so far. India can do without them.
